Pedro Pascal is officially the internet’s favorite “idiot.” The Last of Us actor just dropped a bombshell about his viral appearance during Bad Bunny’s monumental Super Bowl halftime show, admitting that he was completely clueless about his role in the performance until he was literally being “marched” toward the turf.
In a new profile with Fantastic Man, the Emmy nominee reflected on the moment that sent X (formerly Twitter) into a frenzy. While fans were delighted to see the beloved actor on the field, Pascal says his “deer in headlights” expression was percent genuine.
A Selfie and a Dream
The saga began because Pascal is a massive fan of the Grammy-winning superstar. He revealed that he was so desperate to be a part of the show that he offered to do just about anything—even if it meant working for free.
“I wanted to participate in any way — literally a volunteer position, like serving coffee if needed — and I put the feelers out through people I work with,” Pascal shared. He explained that Bad Bunny, also known as Benito, is the gold standard for “representation synchronized with celebration.”
After initially hearing nothing back while filming Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!, Pascal took matters into his own hands. He sent a selfie of himself sticking his tongue out to prove it was really him. “Within minutes, they called me back and they were, like, ‘We want you to come to the show,'” he recalled.
The Beige Dress Code Mystery
When Super Bowl LX arrived, Pascal followed instructions to “wear beige,” but he assumed the neutral color palette was simply for a quick photo op in a luxury suite. He spent the first half of the game relaxing in the stands until a staffer suddenly pulled him from his seat.
“I was under the impression that I would be in a suite,” the Materialists star admitted. “Somebody pulls me from my seat and takes me backstage and then there’s Cardi B and there’s Young Miko and Karol G and Jessica Alba. They do a wardrobe check and then they tell me, ‘Okay, so the vibe is: you’re dancing.'”
It wasn’t until he saw the iconic “La Casita” set piece—a staple of Bad Bunny’s live shows—that the reality of the situation finally set in.
“I started to realize right before they started, and I was, like, ‘It’s the Casita. I’m such a fucking idiot. Oh my god, I’m going to be in the Casita,’ as I was being marched out into the field,” Pascal joked. “So I think that’s why I seemed like a deer in headlights.”
A Star-Studded Casita
The actor was in good company for the history-making performance. In addition to the “La Casita” crew—which included Jessica Alba, Alix Earle, Dave Grutman, and Ronald Acuña Jr.—Bad Bunny brought out musical heavyweights Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga to set the stage on fire.
The internet quickly turned Pascal’s confused-but-happy energy into a series of viral memes, with fans on TikTok calling him “the ultimate relatable fanboy.”
While he might have felt like an “idiot” in the moment, Pascal’s accidental debut as a halftime dancer has only solidified his status as the most charming man in Hollywood. Whether he’s fighting clickers or dancing in a beige outfit on the world’s biggest stage, Pedro Pascal always knows how to steal the show—even if he doesn’t know he’s in it!
