The master of the skies is back, and he’s bringing company.

Steven Spielberg sent shockwaves through the entertainment world on Wednesday when he took the stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas for the first time in his legendary career. The mission? To give fans a heart-pounding first look at his upcoming Universal blockbuster, Disclosure Day.

Introduced by the film’s star, Colman Domingo, the -year-old icon was met with a standing ovation before dropping footage that immediately went viral across X and TikTok.

“I’ve been curious ever since I was a little kid about what’s happening in the night sky,” Spielberg told the crowd, recalling how his father used to tell him stories about “advanced civilizations” beyond our stars.

But it wasn’t just nostalgia that fueled the fire. Spielberg admitted he was pulled back into the world of UFOs after a New York Times report about a Navy pilot spotting an unexplained object. Now, years after Close Encounters of the Third Kind, he says he’s ready to tell the “truth.”

“I made Disclosure Day with certainty that there is a lot more truth than fiction to what you’re going to see,” he teased. “This movie is an experience, and all you need to get from the beginning to the end is a seatbelt.”

The footage itself has fans spiraling. It stars Emily Blunt as a meteorologist who experiences a chilling supernatural event during a live broadcast. In the clip, she finds herself unable to speak, uttering what sounds like gibberish.

However, co-star Josh O’Connor’s character realizes something much more sinister is at play. “It’s math,” he says in the footage, decoding her speech as an alien message.

Social media users are already obsessed with the chemistry between Blunt and O’Connor, especially a poignant moment where they meet and realize they share a mysterious connection. “I know you,” O’Connor says, to which Blunt replies, “I know you, too.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Spielberg epic without high-octane action. Fans on X were quick to clip the moment Blunt attempts a death-defying leap from a car onto a moving train. But the real “mic drop” moment came at the very end of the reel: the first-ever glimpse of the movie’s alien life form.

The reveal has reignited theories that Disclosure Day is actually a “closet sequel” to the classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Blunt recently fueled those rumors, telling Empire magazine, “There are definitely questions posed by Close Encounters that are answered in Disclosure Day.”

The timing of the footage couldn’t be more perfect. It arrived just one day after Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna publicly slammed the Pentagon on X for failing to meet a deadline to declassify UFO video files.

“Whoever is trying to be cute at the Pentagon can take a hike,” Luna posted, asserting that the President has authorized the release of the files.

Whether the real-life government “disclosure” happens or not, Spielberg is promising his own version of the truth this summer. Along with Blunt, O’Connor, and Domingo, the film features an A-list ensemble including Colin Firth, Wyatt Russell, and Eve Hewson.

Disclosure Day hits theaters on June —and if Spielberg is right, we’re going to need more than just popcorn; we’re going to need those seatbelts.
