After the brutal comments against Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, fans are now passing judgments on Michelle Yeoh‘s new look as well. They were making assumptions about the health of the three stars, even questioning the working conditions on the set of the movie.
Earlier, many fans expressed concerns that Erivo and Grande looked especially skinny. Fans passed mocking comments about the appearances of these stars. The infamous Andrew Tate earned the wrath of the internet when he mocked Grande’s appearance on a tweet.
Most recently, Yeoh’s appearance, looking drained and exhausted, led to a social media meltdown over the health of these actresses. While some fans blamed the movie for the drastic transformation, others defended it and even called the observations unfair.
1. Ariana Grande
A source close to Ariana Grande shared with Page Six that her “grueling shoot schedule and marathon press tour” took a heavy toll on her physical health. They also claimed that her past traumatic experiences added to her health issues.
Grande addressed the fan concerns about her body in a TikTok video in 2023. She told fans that “there are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful.” She even went on to suggest that her previous physical appearance was “the unhealthiest version of my body.” She shared:
I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy. But that in fact wasn’t my healthy.
The Positions singer further told her fans not to comment on other people’s bodies, sharing that “you never know what someone is going through.” She shared, “Even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with.”
She asked her fans to “be gentle with each other and with yourselves.” Experts have agreed with Grande on how comments on body image are totally unacceptable.
2. Cynthia Erivo
Fans noticed that Cynthia Erivo, who had an athletic body before Wicked, was seen having a completely different figure after the movie. They noticed that her chest and shoulders looked skinnier in comparison, and her cheekbones and jawline became more prominent.
Many fans expressed concern after her dramatic weight loss, with some believing that she made an extreme transformation for her role. It was rumored that she had imposed a strict workout routine and diet regimen for the movie.
Wicked‘s Elphaba not only got the fan attention for her weight loss. Her nails became quite the internet sensation, as she frequently switched up her manicures. Here’s how she showed up for Wicked‘s premiere in Mexico.

Erivo wasn’t too happy when a podcast host made fun of her nails. When she appeared on the Armchair Expert podcast, host Dax Shepard asked her a really inappropriate question. He started, “When you’re wiping your butt…,” but Erivo interrupted him, sharing, “I knew you would ask that question.”
She initially answered the question, “My answer is nobody uses just their fingers to wipe their backside. You use tissue, correct? And you wipe!” However, Shepard had more questions, and Erivo had an answer for all her fans who had such annoying questions:
I’m annoyed by it. I’m, like, ‘Come on, guys’. I get it, but it’s also, like, ‘I’m a functioning adult, and I’ve never walked around smelling like, you know…
Cynthia Erivo was probably inspired by her character, Elphaba, who had these enchanting talons designed by London-based design creative Shea Osei.
3. Michelle Yeoh
During the Singapore premiere for Wicked: For Good, Michelle Yeoh appeared in a beautiful Iris van Herpen dress. More than her blonde transformation, fans noticed that she looked skinnier than usual in the new photo. Fans claimed that she looked exhausted and almost unrecognizable.

Yeoh played Madame Morrible in the movie. Earlier, her hair transformation received love from her co-stars. In a TikTok video, Grande could be heard exclaiming at Yeoh, “You’re blond!”
