With the long-awaited Epstein Files set to be released publicly, there’s never been a more important time to watch Netflix’s harrowing documentary Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich. This four-part miniseries, based on the 2016 book of the same name by James Patterson, John Connolly, and Tim Malloy, offers firsthand testimony from survivors, law enforcement, and insiders.
Providing context and emotional grounding that the raw documents alone might lack, the series dives deeply into the mechanisms Epstein used to abuse his power, the cries for justice, and the ways in which the system protected him for years. By giving voice to his victims, Filthy Rich ensures viewers understand not just the names, but the human cost behind the files.
Before the files’ release and implicating powerful figures, watching the documentary will help viewers sort what is being revealed, separating legal records from real human stories.
What Are the Jeffrey Epstein Files?

The “Epstein Files” refer to a trove of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These documents, 33,000 pages of which have already been released (via The Guardian), include court records, flight logs, deposition transcripts, and contact lists (via The Guardian).
These documents include several papers related to Epstein’s criminal cases, logs for private planes, images, videos, and more. Reportedly, these run into more than 300 gigabytes of data and physical evidence.
Moreover, recently, the US lawmakers also released more than 20,000 pages of documents containing email exchanges between Epstein and other well-known personalities (via BBC).
Many believe these contain damning evidence about Epstein’s associates and the extent of his criminal network. The Epstein Files have thus become both a symbol of potential accountability and a battleground for political transparency.
When Is Donald Trump Releasing Them?

Donald Trump’s role in the Epstein Files saga has taken several dramatic turns. During his 2024 campaign, he publicly promised to “take a look” at declassifying Epstein-related documents.
By mid-2025, he announced support for congressional action to force their release, declaring, “we have nothing to hide,” but also calling the efforts to release the files a hoax (via NBC News).
On Tuesday, both chambers of the US Congress agreed to order the US Justice Department to release all files. The bill will now head to the desk of Trump for his signature (via CNN). As for when they will be released, there has been no official timeline given so far.
