Prince Harry and King Charles III could be one step closer to reconciliation.
The Daily Mail was first to report on Saturday, July 12, that senior members of Harry, 40, and Charles’ teams had a closed-door meeting in London earlier this month. The conversation appeared to be about resolving the ongoing family feud between the father and son.
A source told the Daily Mail that there’s “a long road ahead” as they continue conversations, but this marked the first time there was communication between Harry, Charles, 76, and their respective teams. Photos obtained by the Daily Mail also showed key players from each side sitting on a balcony in London during this apparent meeting.
Hello! Magazine reported a similar sentiment on Monday, July 14, with an insider sharing that “better times” could be coming for the royal family after their rift.
Us Weekly understands Chief Communications Officer to the Duke and Duchess Meredith Maines was in London for routine meetings to meet with the UK-based communications team, media, stakeholders and senior figures connected to the Duke’s patronages.

On February 6, one day after Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer, Prince Harry traveled to the U.K. for a brief 24-hour trip to see his ailing father. “Harry was focused on catching up and spending quality time together,” says a source, noting that the meeting — which took […]
Harry has been at odds with his family since he and wife Meghan Markle made the decision to step away from their royal duties in 2020. The tension continued earlier this year after Harry spoke publicly about the king in a bombshell BBC interview.
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” the Duke of Sussex said in May before hinting at Charles’ cancer battle. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
Harry’s interview came after he lost an appeal for government-funded security in the U.K. He and Meghan, 43, lost protection overseas after departing from the royal family. Harry has been fighting to get it back ever since.
“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” Harry said, referring to son Archie, 6, and daughter Lilibet, 4. “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done.”
Prince Harry was last together with King Charles III more than one year before claiming his father would not speak to him. Shortly after Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ diagnosis with an undisclosed type of cancer in February 2024, Us Weekly confirmed that Harry, now 40, traveled to the U.K. to see his father. He hinted during the same BBC interview that Charles had something to do with the court decision.
“There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” Harry said. “Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts [to] do what is necessary.”
He also claimed that Charles “won’t speak to me” and noted that “it would be nice to reconcile.”
Harry made it clear that he has “forgiven” members of his family.
“There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” he added.
