Why Did Roadhouse Star Conor McGregor Delete His Instagram Account: Speculations Explained

By Steven Hernandez 11/22/2025

The Irish mixed martial artist, Conor McGregor, just deactivated his social media, and naturally, his fans have questions.

McGregor had around 46 million followers on Instagram alone before he went ahead and deactivated it on November 20, 2025. Now, the 37-year-old was quite active on the social platform, which is why the sudden disappearance of his profile has left us all wondering.

Of course, the Road House actor has had a lot on his plate recently, including the promotions for BKFC, his presidential run for Ireland, and some serious allegations against him.

It is worth noting that while McGregor has not deactivated his X account, he last posted an update on October 6, 2025, announcing his break:

Hey folks online, I’m out of here for a bit, see you again soon!

My love, unwavering! Thank you all ❤️🙏☘️ pic.twitter.com/8wgRl8w0HY

But what is it that compelled him to take a break from social media? Is he simply focusing on his career, or is something much more controversial at play? Let’s discuss.

Fans Believe Conor McGregor Is Locked in for His Comeback

Conor McGregor has not fought in the ring since 2021, leaving his fans hoping for a grand-level comeback. And what could be grander than battling it out on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC?

After McGregor deactivated his social media, his fans are speculating that he may be part of the UFC White House event on June 14, 2026, and finally have the comeback he deserves. Take a look:

While there is no confirmation if he will be a part of the event, his coach, John Kavanagh, has claimed that they are 100% in. During his appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Kavanagh stated,

On our end, we’re 100% in. He’s asked me to basically lay out a program between now and June of how we’ll ramp up the training. He’s showing up again. He’s back in the gym most mornings, early. He’s just having fun with it.

Moreover, Donald Trump‘s son, Eric Trump, stated on the Full Send podcast that he believes McGregor will be a part of the UFC White House. He said,

I think you’re going to see McGregor at that one. I’ve gotten to know McGregor pretty well and he’s a great guy.

Is taking a step back from social media his way of confirming his return?

Did Conor McGregor Delete His Social Media Due to Another Scandal?

Whether it’s getting caught speeding, being accused of racism, or getting arrested for mischief, McGregor is no stranger to controversies. He is currently caught in the middle of a lawsuit, which was filed on January 15, 2025, claiming that he had s*xually assaulted a 49-year-old woman in the bathroom stall of the Kaseya Center.

The plaintiff, who is a vice president at a prominent Wall Street financial firm, accused McGregor of assaulting her at the home arena of the Miami Heat on June 9, 2023, when the Heat played the Denver Nuggets (via AP News).

On top of it all, rapper Azealia Banks accused him of sending her unsolicited nudes on X. She posted screenshots of their DM, stating,

How you gonna send a b*tch some crooked d*ck pics then threaten her not to tell. @TheNotoriousMMA…do you know who the f*ck I am?

All this and more combined, netizens are speculating that McGregor deactivating his account could be because a new scandal is around the corner:

Lol no. At his level of fame nobody would deactivate their social media to “lock in” he definitely got in trouble again or something is coming.

With his track record, it probably just means an even worse allegation or criminal charge is coming down the pipe.

Either that or another scandal about to uncork🤣

More likely that something very bad is about to become public

McGregor may or may not be preparing himself for a controversy, or even his reported comeback, but one thing’s for sure: his move sure made waves on the Internet!
