Who Was the Woman That Died at David Harbour’s Apartment: The Tragedy That You May Not Know About

By William Jones 11/03/2025

For those who don’t know, a 29-year-old aspiring hip-hop artist jumped to her death from the third-floor fire escape at David Harbour’s East Village apartment in September 2015.

By then, Harbour had become a well-known name in the industry, having been in films like Quantum of Solace, The Equalizer, and more. He was away attending the premiere of Black Mass in Toronto when the woman, Christin Croft, took the heartbreaking step.

According to the Daily Mail, she had been struggling to find a place to stay before coming across the then-rising Broadway star. Back then, the NYPD confirmed that her death was not suspicious, and the matter was later ruled as “undetermined”.

While Croft did leave a note behind in Harbour’s apartment, its contents have been made public. Now the question is, why is the tragedy making headlines a decade later? Well, Harbour’s ex-wife may have had something to do with it.

Why Is the Tragedy Resurfacing a Decade Later?

David Harbour and Lily Allen tied the knot on September 7, 2020, but unfortunately, the singer just confirmed their separation last month. Her new album, West End Girl, is partially based on their relationship and his alleged infidelity.

Talking to Interview Magazine, Allen admitted,

There are definitely some things that happened in my real life that are reflected on this record.

In track No. 7, P***y Palace, Allen sings, “Don’t come home, I don’t want you in my bed. Go to the apartment in the West Village instead.” Even though the “apartment in the West Village” is not the one Christin Croft jumped from, the increased attention toward Harbour’s personal life has brought up painful memories of the tragedy.

A source told the Daily Mail that Allen’s viral album is hitting Croft’s daughter hard. When she was still alive, her daughter was being looked after by relatives. Croft was “working hard and trying to get her daughter back at the time. They were working on getting back that mother-daughter bond when she died.

Back then, Harbour told New York Daily News,

[Croft] was someone who struggled. She was in the shelter system. I was trying to help her out.

He added,

I’m very confused. I don’t understand how this happened. She seemed to be a lovely person. It’s a terrible tragedy. I’m very shaken by this.

The police sources also claimed that Croft had a history of mental health issues.

Christin Croft’s Family Speaks Up About David Harbour

It couldn’t have been easy for Crofts’ loved ones to deal with the tragedy back then, and it sure isn’t easy for them to see it resurface all these years later. Marlon Martindale, the husband of Croft’s cousin, Duana, opened up to the Daily Mail about her death.

Martindale stated that the police had informed him about the suicide, even though she seemed to be in “good spirits” a few days ago. He said, “I don’t recall being told about a suicide note, but the last person to speak to her said she was in good spirits.

He spoke positively about David Harbour, stating that Croft had told them about “her friend who had a nice apartment in Manhattan, who was an actor.” She even talked to them about “hanging out” and “sometimes staying overnight” at his home.

Martindale recalled,

There were good friends. They’d do a lot of networking together. He helped her meet people in acting and music. She was friendly, always trying to get her foot in the door with rappers, singers, producers and directors. That’s how they met, through that circle.

As Lily Allen’s new music shines a spotlight back on Harbour’s personal life, old wounds have opened for those who knew Croft. This may all be celebrity drama for the rest of the world, but for them, the story hits close to home.
