By Richard Martin 11/22/2025

Actress and comedian Rachel Sennott recently made an appearance on Subway Takes with Kareem Rahma, and her hot take has angered quite a few people online. What did she say?

In the duration of the video, Kareem Rahma asks her about her hot take, as he does with all of his guests, and she replies with, “Everyone needs to get addicted to one thing at least once in their life to prove to themselves that they can break an addiction.

Without missing a beat, the host wholeheartedly disagreed with her. As he said, “You don’t want to play with the fire.” However, Sennott is all about playing with fire.

She spoke about her own addiction to nicotine, stating,

I’m half Irish. My entire life, my dad was like, ‘watch out, addiction will get you’, and I was like, ‘No, it won’t’. And then it did a little. And then I fought the demons.

Sennott admitted that she “dabbled in nicotine” for about a year and is currently “pulling away.” Check out the entire video below:

The Internet Comes After Rachel Sennott for Her Hot Take

Kareem Rahma pushed back on Rachel Sennott’s statement, bringing up the dangers of addiction and how sometimes, they can just start with, “I’ll just try these opioids…” Like Rahma, many others also oppose Sennott in her views, especially those who have struggled with addiction in the past.

A user wrote, “As someone who has had to pull themselves out of the depths of addiction and wouldn’t wish that upon anyone, this is the most loser take I’ve ever seen in my life.

Check out what others have said:

As someone who deals with the tides of addiction within my own family, my mother passed away due to her addiction, that’s the most entitled thing I’ve ever heard in my life

such a dumbass take. imagine thinking you need to get hooked on something for character development

This is one of the most dangerous takes ive heard and I hate it. Makes my skin crawl. Thank you for saying something and I'm so glad he pushed her on it

I have seen what does to people. It’s a real life horror. Don’t wish this on anyone.

Homegirl, America has an opioid epidemic. People are dying on the streets because they got addicted to something at least once.

On the other hand, Sennott later backpedaled on her statement, toning it down to say that people should get addicted to things like a “weird workout routine“, before adding, “I was addicted to laxatives for one year.

She also admitted that her take could be dangerous: “My take is ultimately wrong, and dangerous, and bad. You said opioids, and I went, ‘F*ck’, I didn’t mean it like that.”
