P Diddy is continuing to spend time behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, after his sentencing. However, his safety is reportedly on the line. According to the latest reports, the rapper was attacked by a knife-wielding con in the prison, who is said to have gotten close enough to him to press a makeshift blade to his throat.
Diddy’s best friend, Charlucci Finney, claimed to the Daily Mail recently that an inmate armed with a shiv snuck into the now-disgraced music mogul’s cell. However, even he doesn’t know too many details about the incident. Finney said,
He woke up with a knife to his throat. I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened.
Finney, who has known Sean Combs for more than three decades and continues to be one of his close allies, went on to express his belief that Diddy’s brush with death inside the notoriously violent detention center was a mere warning rather than a genuine murder attempt. He said,
If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him. It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.
The Bad Boy Records founder was sentenced to serve 50 months (four years and two months) in federal prison on October 3 following his July 2025 conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in pr*stit*tion. However, Combs, for one, has been repeatedly facing difficult conditions in the MDC Brooklyn since he was first held there behind bars.
P Diddy’s Lawyer Recently Expressed Concerns About His Safety

Prior to this latest reported incident, P Diddy’s defense claimed that he had almost been attacked with a makeshift knife inside the Brooklyn jail where he has been detained since his arrest. As reported by TMZ, Combs’ lawyer Brian Steel claimed that the rapper has a target on his back at MDC, as there are certain people who would gain prestige by harming him.
Ever since he got arrested back in September 2024, Diddy has been having a hard time at the detention center. He reportedly lives in a room with 24 other men and is surrounded by drug use and violence. Steel claimed that Diddy hasn’t slept for more than 2 hours in a row since being incarcerated, and only eats bags of chips amidst the inhumane conditions he is living in.
Even during the course of the federal s*x tr*ff*cking trial, Combs’ lawyers raised the threat of violence on several occasions. The lawyer also claimed that a guard at the jail stopped an inmate with a shiv – a makeshift knife or razor – at one instance. The culprit was, apparently, trying to earn ‘prestige’ by hurting the Grammy winner.
P Diddy’s Lawyers Are Rallying For His Transfer to FCI Fort Dix

Amidst all these reports and concerns expressed for P Diddy’s safety, the rapper’s lawyers now reportedly want him to serve the remainder of his 50-month sentence for pr*stit*tion offenses at a different jail. As reported by the Daily Mail, they want him to be transferred to the much safer – and cushier – FCI Fort Dix in Hanover Township, New Jersey.
Per the reports, Diddy’s defense lawyers have even written to Judge Arun Subramanian, urging him to recommend the low-security facility to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. This is so that their multi-millionaire client can not only attend a drug rehab program, but also enjoy better access to his family while ensuring his safety much better than at MDC.
Charlucci Finney, while talking to Daily Mail, also added why it’s so dangerous for Combs to be at MDC, claiming,
Sean has kept a lot of this stuff to himself because he doesn’t want to worry his family. But if you’re in jail and you’ve been charged with anything s-xual, it’s not a good place to be. The prisoners take it personal. They look at it like, it could have been my mom, my auntie, my daughter. They try to get what they call prison justice.
He also added, “And you have to understand, we are not talking about a regular person. We’re talking about Diddy,” further emphasizing his concerns about the rap mogul’s safety.
However, unfortunately for them, no positive updates about P Diddy’s potentially being shifted to a better prison have surfaced, as of this writing. And until that happens, the rapper will have to continue to spend time at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, irrespective of how inhumane the conditions there may be.
