Isabella “Bella” Jane Cruise was born in 1992, making Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman parents for the first time. She was adopted by them after her biological mother left her with the Church of Scientology, as she couldn’t afford to support a third child (via Nicki Swift).
That is how Kidman and Cruise got their first child, meeting Bella just hours after her birth. In an interview with Vanity Fair (via PEOPLE), the actress admitted that she wanted to have kids from the minute she got married. Unfortunately, the former couple went through the “traumatic” incident of losing a baby early on, which pushed them towards adoption.
Kidman and Cruise split when Bella was only eight years old, while her younger brother, Connor, was six. Thus began the phase of endless travel and gruesome custody battles between her parents. Bella has followed her father’s footsteps and is associated with the Church of Scientology.
As for Kidman, she has made peace with the path her children with Cruise have taken. She told The Sun (via Hello Magazine), “They have made choices to be Scientologists. It’s our job as a parent to always offer unconditional love.”

When Bella found her new home, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise couldn’t have been happier. As she held the 9lb baby in her arms, the actress knew at that instant that it was love at first sight.
She stated (via the Daily Mail),
When I held Bella in my arms, that was the pregnancy, that was everything. I look into those eyes and that crazy love happens. It opens up a part of your heart you didn’t even know was there.
Kidman ended up missing a lot of her time with her children after the divorce, as she was occupied with filming in Romania. When she returned to her kids, she realized that Cruise had sent Connor and Bella to a Scientology summer camp, via Hello. Eventually, the battle of custody came to an end, and their children began living with Cruise full-time.
As per insiders who confided in Vanity Fair, the Mission: Impossible actor had something to do with the strained relationship. Apparently, he deemed their mother a “Supperessive Person” and instructed Bella to ignore Kidman.
John Brousseau, the ex-brother-in-law of church leader David Miscavige, claimed that Connor once expressed his distaste for Kidman, stating, “Our mom’s an S.P. We hate going and seeing her.“
To add fire to the fuel, Kidman wasn’t there at Bella’s 2015, but neither was Cruise. However, despite the lack of her parents’ presence, she stated in 2016, “Of course [we talk], they’re my parents. Anyone who says otherwise is full of sh*t” (via TSMH). It is also believed that Kidman had no idea that a wedding was happening in the first place.
Despite it all, there seems to be no bad blood between Kidman and Bella. Earlier this year, Kidman posted a photo of herself, her mother, and two kids with Keith Urban, wishing them all a Happy Mother’s Day.

While her kids with Cruise were excluded from the post, Bella didn’t seem to mind, as she even liked her mother’s post. Kidman and Bella may talk from time to time, but their relationship has been strained in the last few years following the divorce.

Unlike her parents, Bella has stayed away from the spotlight of Hollywood, and instead, she established herself in the creative industry after studying and graduating from West London’s Delmar Academy of Make-up and Hair.
At the age of 18, Bella interned at her stepmother, Katie Holmes‘ clothing company, Holmes & Yang. Speaking about their collaboration, Cruise once stated, “Kate’s designing and (Bella) is just working her way up. She’s an artist, Bella, so it’s really great that she gets to work with it” (via Marie Claire).
Bella later came up with her own line, BKC (Bella Kidman Cruise), where she sells everything from tote bags to t-shirts with her own artwork printed on them. The website, BellaKidmanCruise.com, states, “Bella has been drawing ever since her wee hands could pick up a pen. Since that point in time she’s been evolving in her arts.“

In 2015, Bella tied the knot with IT consultant Max Parker, and only a few of her close ones were present at the private ceremony, with the exception of her parents, via the Daily Mail. A source stated, “The wedding was a Scientology ceremony.” She is still following the religion and even completed training as an auditor in the past.
Bella seems to have a good relationship with her half-sister, Sunday Rose, as the elder sister has liked multiple Instagram posts of her younger sister, supporting her modelling career.
