This is because North’s latest look has fans more concerned about her than being impressed with her, as the 12-year-old unveiled a bold new look on TikTok over the weekend, featuring fake tattoos and a piercing.
In the post she shared on TikTok, the pre-teen looked nearly unrecognizable in her long blue braids, bright blue contacts, and a collection of silver chains around her neck. This dramatic transformation was completed with black grillz over her teeth, along with a faux nose ring. Not to mention, she also sported large temporary tattoos sprawled across her face, including a star under her eye and a word written in script on her cheek.

All this has since had fans taking West’s side, since he has long expressed concerns about how his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, has been raising their daughter. In 2022, he strongly objected to North’s presence on TikTok, writing that she was being put on the app without his consent. Plus, he has repeatedly criticized Kardashian for allowing North to wear revealing or edgy clothing, makeup, and piercings (via Bored Panda).

While some praised North West’s creativity and confidence for going for such a bold look, not everyone was sold on this latest move from the 12-year-old. During her recent appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Kim Kardashian opened up about parenting missteps and admitted that balancing North West’s creativity with her young age has been a learning experience. She said,
It’s really hard and it’s really interesting because all the kids are wearing the same things. But then my daughter tries to wear it, and I’m like, ‘OK, we’re never wearing that again.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.
However, she also defended her daughter’s fashion freedom following backlash. Recently, North was seen sporting a corset during a summer trip to Rome, which drew heavy criticism. In her defense, Kardashian feels her daughter simply wants to experiment with her fashion sense, just like her peers. She explained,
She’s usually a tomboy most of the time. She wanted to try something her friends were wearing, and it’s just like, okay, wait, maybe you can’t wear that. So as a mom, you’re kind of learning at the same time.
Adding to this, the mother of four – daughters North and Chicago, 7, and sons Saint, 9, and Psalm, 6 – concluded that, at the end of the day, she knew her daughter was “such a good girl and such a sweet girl.” She said,
She does listen to me, but in other areas, I’m like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is.’ You know, it makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her. I just think anyone that’s raising kids, especially four kids by myself, I’m doing the best that I can.
Well, her perspective is only understandable as well.
