It’s quite hard to imagine the life Sheldon would’ve had if it weren’t for his Meemaw’s love and care, as we see in the episodes of Young Sheldon. But what many may have forgotten is that before she was Cooper’s Meemaw, actress Annie Potts was once part of the Toy Story franchise.
Potts brought Bo Peep to life in the Toy Story films, where she didn’t get enough screen time in the Pixar franchise, especially after the first film. Thankfully, Toy Story 4 gave Potts and Bo Peep their much-needed spotlight. So, if you were wondering why Peep sounded familiar, now you know.
Where Else Have You Seen Toy Story’s Annie Potts in the Industry?

While her most prominent role was the voice of Bo Peep in Toy Story and her most recent was Meemaw in Young Sheldon, Annie Potts was also a staple of Hollywood, especially in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Before her film and TV roles, Potts studied Theatre at Stephens College in Missouri, where she got her foot in the door of the film industry.
She made her film debut in 1978’s comedy film Corvette Summer alongside Mark Hamill, where she received a Golden Globe nomination in the New Star of the Year category for her role of Vanessa (via Golden Globes). Later, she would appear in other successful film projects like Pretty in Pink, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, and even in the original Ghostbusters in the role of Janine Melnitz.
On the silver screen, she would leave her mark in shows like Designing Women from 1986, appearing in more than 150 episodes as Mary Jo Shively and solidifying her chops as an actor. Her role as Dana Palladino in CBS’s 1993 sitcom Love and War helped her get nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Actress category in 1994 (via Variety).
Therefore, while she may now be focusing on small-scale projects and the silver screen, Potts’ career can inspire anyone to strive for better.
