Taylor Swift’s ‘The End of an Era’ Release Date and Where to Stream: How Is It Different From ‘The Eras Tour’

Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour fever isn’t over yet. In the new docuseries, titled The End of an Era, we get a behind-the-scenes look into Swift’s sixth concert tour that went on to become an all-American phenomenon. A trailer for the same was dropped on Thursday, revealing the details like where to watch and the release date of the new series.

The first two episodes of the six-episode docuseries will be streaming on Disney+ on December 12. The next four episodes will be released on the platform over the subsequent two weeks. It was announced that the Disney-owned television network, ABC, will air a special preview of the first episode on the same day.

Swift took to X to share the trailer of the series, sharing, “Honestly can’t think of a better way to celebrate my (almost) birthday than to relive the Eras Tour with you!” The Fate of Ophelia singer’s birthday is on December 13. She further shared that the series was going to explore the backstage happenings during the Eras Tour. Fans expressed their excitement in the comments under Swift’s post.

The trailer featured not just clips from backstage but also the accounts of Swift, her mother, and the others behind organizing the massive events. It also featured clips of Travis Kelce‘s appearance at her concerts, and he even spoke about his experience in the docuseries.

Other guest appearances in the docuseries include Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, and Florence Welch.

In 2023, Taylor Swift released her concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, directed by Sam Wrench. The movie featured the Los Angeles shows of the Eras Tour and was released in the theaters after a landmark distribution deal with AMC Theaters and Cinemark Theaters. Interestingly, we are getting another concert movie next month alongside the new docuseries.

The concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show, will premiere on Disney+ on the same day as the first two episodes of the docuseries. ABC will air a one-hour presentation of this concert movie on December 12 at 8 p.m.

This concert movie will feature the footage from Swift’s final Eras Tour stop at BC Place in Vancouver on December 8, 2024. The new movie will feature her revamped setlist, which also includes her performance of songs from The Tortured Poets Department.

Earlier, Swift’s concert movie became the highest-grossing concert movie of all time, earning $267.1 million (via Box Office Mojo). The movie is currently available for streaming on Disney+.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show are both cinematic renderings of the Eras Tour. It showed her performances of most songs on the tour’s set list. The 3.5-hour show was condensed to fit into a 2-hour 45-minute movie.

However, her docuseries shows the behind-the-scenes details rather than the on-stage happenings. The news about the docuseries comes amidst the success of Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The album sold 4 million copies in its first week and a total of over 5.5 million global album equivalent units. The album also shattered records with 1.5 billion global streams and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
