Sydney Sweeney has strong opinions about going under the knife. If you are wondering, she shut down the rumors that she had undergone any plastic surgery procedures on her body. She shared during an interview with Variety that she was absolutely terrified of needles. She said, “I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing.”
The actress spoke to the outlet ahead of the release of her biopic on Christy Martin, titled Christy. She shared that she was going to “age gracefully.” She was amused that people even speculated about her undergoing plastic surgery. She spoke about the “comparison pictures” used by some people to claim that she had gone under the knife, sharing:
It’s really funny. I’ll see things online like ‘comparison pictures.’ I’m like, ‘I’m 12 in that photo.’ Of course I’m going to look different. I have makeup on now and I’m 15 years older.’
While Sweeney didn’t comment on her most recent controversy on the American Eagle jeans ad, she shared, “I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t.” She further added, “I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good because you shouldn’t have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room.”

It isn’t just Sweeney who is openly vocal against plastic surgery procedures. Many other celebrities have chosen to age naturally instead of choosing the surgical way. While some of them didn’t judge the surgical procedures, others were critical of the message that such procedures send to young women. Here are the celebrities who said no to plastic surgery.
15. Shannen Doherty

The late actress Shannen Doherty was critical of the surgical changes that actresses made to their faces. In one of her Instagram posts, she commented on how she could relate to very few actresses in the movies she was watching. She shared that these women embraced their faces as it were. Doherty shared:
Watching movies tonight and noticed there were few female characters I could relate to. You know, women without fillers, without Botox, without a facelift. Women who embraced their face and all the experience it showed.
Doherty had a long battle with breast cancer, with the actress getting diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2015. While she announced that she was in remission in 2017, her cancer returned in 2020 and worsened over the years. She died at the age of 53 on July 13, 2024.
14. Halle Berry

Halle Berry is another Hollywood A-lister who is against plastic surgery. In her interview with Yahoo! Beauty, she shared that the “pressure” to undergo a surgical procedure is very real. She shared that the thought had crossed her mind multiple times after hearing about plastic surgery from her peers. She shared:
When you see everybody around you doing it, you have those moments when you think, ‘To stay alive in this business, do I need to do the same thing?’ I won’t lie and tell you that those things don’t cross my mind because somebody is always suggesting it to me.
However, she appears to have restrained herself from going through with it. She shared that she had to keep reminding herself that beauty wasn’t so much about her physical self. She shared, “I just have kept reminding myself that beauty really is as beauty does, and it is not so much about my physical self. Aging is natural, and that’s going to happen to all of us.”
She further shared that she wanted to look like herself when she got older. She shared that when you are too dependent on “that cosmetic stuff,” you “become somebody else in a way.”
13. Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson is not afraid to say her age out loud. Last year, she appeared for an interview with Pedro Pascal in Interview Magazine, and their conversation gradually turned to aging naturally. Mid-conversation, she stated that she was 49 years old, adding that it was evident since she didn’t “shoot anything” into her face.
She further shared the one thing that made her feel that she was aging rapidly. Paulson shared with Pascal:
Well, since I don’t shoot anything into my face at this particular juncture, I imagine everyone knows I’m 49. If there’s anything that’s going to age me rapidly, it’s going back to the theater.
She further talked about the play Appropriate and explained why it was making her feel age faster than ever. She shared that she had to make multiple facial expressions, during which the lines between her eyebrows due to aging were visible. She shared:
Sometimes I’m backstage doing this play, Appropriate, and I’m thinking, ‘Wow, I’m making these facial expressions multiple times a day all day for months on end. I’ve never had those lines in between my eyebrows.’ Well, I expect when I’m done with this play, they’ll be there permanently.
Pedro Pascal also revealed his age to be 46 at the time. However, unlike Paulson, he shared that he was not too happy to reveal his age.
12. Pink

Singer Pink wrote a letter to herself in 2020 on X (now deleted) about how she would embrace aging naturally (via PEOPLE). She shared in the post that the effects of aging were making her feel weird. She wrote,
Dear Me, you’re getting older. I see lines. Especially when you smile. Your nose is getting bigger… You look (and feel) weird as you get used to this new reality.
Pink further shared that she couldn’t get behind the idea of plastic surgery. She shared, “Every once in a while, you consider altering your face, and then you watch a show where you want to see what the person is feeling… and their face doesn’t move. I cannot get behind it. I just can’t.” She further encouraged her fans to “AGE THE OL FASHIONED WAY.”
In another deleted X post, she clapped back at an online fan who tried to shame her for her looks (via PEOPLE). She wrote in her response to the fan:
Yes, although I don’t feel old, and I still get to wear a leotard to work, growing older is actually my first ‘grateful’ every day. What a blessing to have life, years. To be this strong, to be able to still piss off complete strangers just by existing.
In another sarcastic response to a hate comment in 2018, Pink shared, “You must be from L.A.” She further told the fan that there are very few people left in the world who choose to age naturally.
11. Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep refuses to get any plastic surgery procedures because of the experiences with her co-stars. In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2009, she shared that the changes in her co-stars’ faces made communication very difficult. She believed that procedures done on the face hindered facial expressions. She explained:
When I see it in people I meet, it’s like an interruption in communication with them. It’s like a flag in front of the view, and that, for an actor, is like wearing a veil — it’s not a good thing.
Earlier in 2008, she explained to Good Housekeeping the importance of embracing the “gift” of aging. She shared that she saw many men in the industry go down the path of plastic surgery, adding:
I just don’t get it. You have to embrace getting older. Life is precious, and when you’ve lost a lot of people, you realize each day is a gift.
However, a recent report from Closer suggested that she was considering getting her eyes done after Martin Short introduced her to plastic surgery (via Yahoo!). Many sources and experts have also indicated that Streep may have undergone subtle non-invasive facial procedures over the years.
10. Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore shares “zero judgment” towards those who have gotten procedures done on their faces. However, she is not inclined to make any changes to her face. She shared during an interview with PEOPLE that she wanted to maintain her natural face as long as possible. She shared:
I haven’t done anything, and I’m going to maintain that as long as possible. I have zero judgment for anyone doing anything. But I don’t see myself resorting to it.
She further joked about how she looked forward to aging, sharing, “And I look forward to seeing what I look like as a leather bag in the future!” Barrymore explained that she had an “addictive personality” and feared that she might get hooked on such surgical procedures. She shared:
I have a highly addictive personality, so I worry I’d continue to chase it, get this and that done. That scares me, just because of my own approach to things. So, I’m waiting on making any alterations.
Barrymore had struggled with early substance abuse after her fame as a child star got to her. Her childhood trauma apparently stops her from doing anything that might get too addictive.
9. Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore never underwent any surgical procedures and even shared that she didn’t believe in them. However, she also shared that she didn’t want to openly condemn people for undergoing plastic surgery. She shared that any alterations to your natural face looked weird. She shared with Allure in 2010:
I hate to condemn people for doing [Botox], but I don’t believe it makes people look better. I think it just makes them look like they had something done to their face. When you look at somebody who’s had their face altered in some way, it just looks weird.
In 2021, she opened up about “aging gracefully” with W Magazine, sharing that there was so much “inherent judgment” in the phrase. She shared, “Is there an ungraceful way to age? We don’t have an option, of course. No one has an option about aging, so it’s not a positive or a negative thing; it just is.”
She further shared that it was part of “the human condition,” questioning why we talk about it as if we have any control over it. She further shared that aging should be about evolution and how to navigate life to have “deeper” experiences.
8. Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson had a harsher take on plastic surgery. She repeatedly spoke out against getting surgical procedures done on the face. She shared that it is not a normal thing to do and added that there is immense pressure on women to maintain this unrealistic look. She shared with Hello Magazine in 2014:
It’s mad. It’s not a normal thing to do, and the culture that we’ve created that says it’s normal is not normal. Why do people ask persons to cut them open and put things into their body? What is that, what are we doing to ourselves?
She further shared that it was “chronically unhealthy” and was creating a “superculture” that was going to suggest to young people that changing their appearance was normal. She shared:
It’s chronically unhealthy, and there’s this very serious side to all of that because we’re going to end up with this sort of ‘super-culture’ that’s going to suggest to young people, girls and boys, that this looks normal. And it’s not normal.
In another interview with TheWrap, she reiterated her stance and called the plastic surgery trend “a form of collective psychosis.” She further shared:
I’ve always thought that, though. But I’ve always been a kind of card-carrying, militant feminist when it comes to women’s bodies and what’s been done to them, what we’re told to expect of ourselves, what we’re told to do to ourselves.
Thompson’s take on cosmetic surgery received support and criticism from various corners.
7. Jodie Foster

Jodie Foster shared that plastic surgery wasn’t her thing. She shared with More magazine in 2007, “It is not my thing” (via PEOPLE). However, she shared, “I don’t have anything against it for other people. Whatever they want to do, I’m fine with it.” She shared that it was more of “a self-image thing” for her. She shared:
Like, I’d rather have somebody go, ‘Wow, that girl has a bad nose’ than, ‘Wow, that girl has a bad nose job.’ I’d rather have a comment about who I am than about something that identifies me as being ashamed of who I am.
Foster turned 60 in 2022 and shared how she learned to embrace her aging during an interview with Interview Magazine in 2023. She shared, “Sixty was the best shift of all because I was struggling in my 50s.” She further shared about crossing the awkward phase of the forties and fifties:
There’s that awkward phase where everybody who’s in their late forties or fifties is very busy getting all plumped and shooting sh*t into their face. I didn’t want that life, but I also knew that I couldn’t compete with my old self.
She shared that she was content with herself in her sixties. She shared that she went to work with a new attitude and added that she enjoyed supporting other people. She said to herself, “This is not my time. I had my time. This is their time.”
6. Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek was vocal against Botox during a 2010 interview with InStyle. She was asked whether she had undergone any cosmetic surgery, to which she responded, “No surgical tweaks. No Botox either” (via NBC4 Washington). She shared that she thought the idea was terrible. She shared:
I think it is terrible, these girls in their late 20s injecting their faces and lips. One told me, ‘If I kill my muscles now, I’ll never get wrinkles.’ Can you imagine?
However, she previously shared other non-invasive procedures that she used to keep her skin great. She shared with Elle in 2015, “I use an ingredient called Tepezcohuite that’s used in Mexico for burn victims because it completely regenerates the skin.”
She claimed that she took some of the ingredients to the American labs and was met with the response, “Oh my God! How come nobody is using this?” She shared that it was why she had “no Botox, no peels, no fillings.”
5. Amanda Peet

Your Friends & Neighbors actress Amanda Peet swore on SiriusXM’s Conversations with Maria Menounos that she never got Botox, fillers, or any of the invasive procedures. She shared, “I’ve never gotten Botox or fillers. I’ve never done anything to my face that’s ‘invasive’” (via PEOPLE).
Her decision to stay away from the surgical procedures could be attributed to her two daughters. She explained, “I think it has a lot to do with having two girls. Maybe I’m afraid. I’m afraid it’s like I’ve never done cocaine either!” However, she admitted to having undergone other non-invasive beauty treatments. She shared:
I’ve certainly spent a lot of time and money doing other stuff, and I certainly am vain!
Peet doubled down on her take in a 2017 essay for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter. She shared in the essay, “Since we’re all going to get wrinkly and die, maybe we’ve got to move in the direction of acceptance about that.”
She further brought Alicia Vikander into the discussion, sharing, “Botox or no Botox, we shouldn’t feel bitter because we’re ALL going to look like sh*t. Every last one of us. Even Alicia Vikander. (Sorry, Alicia).” While the Tomb Raider actress reference wasn’t necessary, she got her point across to many of her fans.
4. Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner still maintains a great look for her age. When she shared her tips to look beautiful with Harper’s Bazaar, she had major advice for people in their 30s and older. She shared, “Look in the mirror less, obsess less, and look at the rest of the world to see what you could be using your time for instead.”
She shared that the obsession with facial changes led many to look for fixes. However, she warned people to “be cautious when it comes to injecting anything into your face.” She shared:
Be very, very incredibly judicious and wait as absolutely long as possible to add anything. Don’t think that you’re 37 and you need to be shooting up your face. You don’t need to wear so much makeup or have such a constant blowout.
Garner believed that proper skin and hair care would make people confident enough and make them feel good “without adding anything major.”
3. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston commented on the pressure that women in Hollywood face to be “ageless” during an interview with Yahoo! Beauty in 2014. She was talking about self-esteem issues that actresses face, adding that she had seen what many women do to themselves to stay ageless. She shared that she learned from their mistakes and was never injecting anything into her face. She shared:
I think what I have been witness to, is seeing women trying to stay ageless with what they are doing to themselves. I am grateful to learn from their mistakes, because I am not injecting s**t into my face.
She shared that these actresses were “trying to stop the clock,” only to come across as “an insecure person who won’t let themselves just age.” She also jokingly shared that her then-fiancé Justin Theroux would “put a gun to my head if I touch my face in any way.” She further shared some alternatives to invasive procedures:
Well, that’s true, it’s hydration, and there are also so many things that women can do today with technology in terms of LED light therapy, good lasers that tighten the muscles, and massages for your face—and don’t forget great creams. I think that’s the route to go.
However, many fans believe that she might’ve gotten procedures done to maintain her current looks. Aesthetics doctor, Dr. Jonny Betteridge, took to Instagram and shared that he found no signs of any work done by the actress on her face until 2024. He suggested that the actress might’ve recently undergone blepharoplasty, dermal fillers, an under-eye filler, and a mid-face lift.
2. Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts considers it unfortunate that women live in a society where they are not given a chance to see themselves as older persons. She shared during an interview with Elle in 2010 that she wanted to have some idea of what she looked like when she got older. She shared:
It’s unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don’t even give themselves a chance to see what they’ll look like as older persons. I want to have some idea of what I’ll look like before I start cleaning the slates.
She spoke against the idea of getting surgical procedures done on the face, shared that she wanted her kids to know “when I’m pissed, when I’m happy, and when I’m confounded.” She shared, “Your face tells a story … and it shouldn’t be a story about your drive to the doctor’s office.”
When she became the beauty ambassador for Lancôme in 2014, she told You Magazine that she had risked her career by not opting to undergo cosmetic surgery. She said, “By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a facelift“ (via Marie Claire).
She further shared that she wanted to be an aging model. She shared, “But I’ve told Lancôme that I want to be an ageing model – so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50.” Interestingly, Lancôme continues its collaboration with Roberts even today.
1. Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet also belongs to the circle of seasoned Hollywood actresses who refused to get work done to appear ageless. Winslet chose to embrace her natural old age, sharing that doing anything to reverse it would be against her morals. She shared during an interview with The Telegraph in 2011:
It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up, and what I consider to be natural beauty. I will never give in. I am an actress; I don’t want to freeze the expression of my face.
She recently reignited the discussion about taking nature’s course in aging when she recalled an incident from the set of her drama Lee. She told Harper’s Bazaar U.K. that a crew member approached her about hiding her “belly rolls” for the camera in a scene where she wore a bikini. She shared her response, “So you can’t see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?”
She further shared, “I’m more comfortable in myself as each year passes. It enables me to allow the opinions of others to evaporate.” She also recalled that she refused any editing on her body during a n*de scene in the film. Winslet’s move comes across as inspirational for the next generation of actresses.
