Winning his fifth Olympic medal isn’t the only reason the world is obsessed with Tom Daley. The British diver first went viral during the Tokyo Olympics for knitting in the stands, and his passion for the craft has continued into the 2024 Paris summer games.
The beloved Olympian, television personality and LGBTQ activist uses knitting and crochet as a way to calm his nerves before competing. In fact, he credits his Olympic gold win in large part to the craft. Hoping to share his joy and appreciation for the yarn-centered activity with the world, Daley compiled a book of 30 original projects titled Made With Love for fans to follow at home.
Whether you’re a first-time knitter or absolute pro, Made With Love has you covered. The 352-page book begins with Daley explaining just how much he loves the art form, and how heavily it has impacted his diving career.
He continues into the specifics of yarn, knitting essentials and knitting basics, including common stitches, casting off and troubleshooting tips. Daley then goes into 15 knitting projects: sweaters, cardigans, socks, blankets, dog hats and so on. He does the same for crochet, also delving into basics along with 15 crochet projects, like totes, bracelets, plant pots, cushions and polos.
For a limited time, Daley’s book is on sale for 44-68 percent off. You can score it at Target, Walmart and Amazon. Plus, be sure to check out and support his @madewithlovebytomdaley Instagram account.
The Olympic athlete also collaborated with Lion Brand Yarn on a collection of colored yarn for both knitting and crochet. You can shop all 12 shades (also on sale right now) at lionbrand.com.
