Salma Hayek celebrates Angelina Jolie, and Latinos like Selena Gomez nominated for a Golden Globe Award

The 2025 Golden Globe Awards nominees were announced yesterday, and Latinos were excited to see names like Sofía Vergara, Diego Luna, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, and Issa López getting their flowers and recognition for their incredible work in film and TV. One of those excited was Salma Hayek, who won a Golden Globe in 2007 as the Executive Producer of Ugly Betty, which won Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy award.

On Tuesday, the Mexican actress shared a gallery of photos. The first photo was with her good friend Angelina Jolie, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for her film Maria. "'I’m so happy that Angie and so many Latinos got nominated for the #GoldenGlobes this year. It’s going to be a good one! Congratulations you beautiful, talented people," she wrote in the caption.

In the mix were photos of Hayek posing with Luna, nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for his role in La Máquina, and Vergara, who earned a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for Griselda. She also included snaps of López, who wrote and directed True Detective: Night Country, Emilia Pérez's Saldaña, Gomez, Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón, and Brazilian director Walter Salles, whose film I'm Still Here, is nominated for two awards.

Representation matters, so seeing more Latinos on the nominee list is extremely important. Here are more of the Latinos up for awards.

Puerto Rican actress Liza Colón-Zayas earned her first nomination for The Bear in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Television category.

Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role in I’m Still Here.

Colman Domingo, who made history as the first Afro-Latino to be nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama for Sing Sing.

Uruguayan Director Fede Álvarez's Alien: Romulus is also nominated in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.
