Ryan Reynolds Allegedly Destroyed This Photographer’s Life, Who Lost Close to $250,000, Here’s How

A Vancouver-based photographer is claiming that Ryan Reynolds allegedly destroyed his life. Back in 2015, Reynolds alleged that a paparazzo photographer allegedly assaulted him after hitting him with a car. The photographer faced charges of assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and criminal harassment at the time.

According to Reynolds, Richard Fedyck allegedly harassed him for a long time, and the alleged hit and run happened on April 10, 2015 (via CBC Canada). Reynolds allegedly got into a confrontation with Fedyck in the parking lot of the Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver while he was filming Deadpool 2.

Police recommended the charges based on video and witness evidence. The official reports said that Reynolds had a sore knee and back as a result of the incident. Fedyck denied any wrongdoing in the alleged incident. He was released on the condition that he should stay out of Vancouver until Reynolds left town and not make any contact with him, his wife, or his family.

Fedyck told The Province newspaper at the time, “Ryan Reynolds was not hit by a car,” insisting that the incident report was “100 per cent false” (via Global News Canada). However, Reynolds’ representative shared in their statement to ET Canada:

While walking, Ryan was struck by a [paparazzo] driving a car through an underground parking garage. The man fled the scene. Ryan is OK.

In 2017, the court services confirmed the withdrawal of the charges against Fedyck. The photographer covered celebrity news and worked for multiple entertainment TV shows. His work has been published in outlets like Us Weekly, ET Canada, Lainey Gossip, Daily Mail, Just Jared, The Sun, and others.

Richard Fedyck Maintained that Ryan Reynolds’ Accusations Were a Lie

Richard Fedyck has since opened up about the incident numerous times, including during his recent appearance on YouTuber Kjersti Flaa‘s channel. He shared that he was falsely accused of the charges. He claimed that Reynolds and Blake Lively told outright lies in court in an attempt to imprison him for doing his job. He claimed on Flaa’s channel:

What they’re doing to Justin [Baldoni] right now is what they did to me back in 2015. It’s unbelievable. Do they not have a conscience? It’s just mind-blowing the way they fabricate things to destroy people’s lives. Ryan has police. He has a mayor. He has other government people behind him. They wanted to put me in jail.

His Instagram page, @fedyck_photography, has a pinned post from 2022, where he claimed that Vancouver PD came up with “trumped up charges” against him on behalf of Reynolds. He shared that the incident changed his life and caused him to suffer from depression and anxiety. He accused Reynolds and Lively of giving statements that were “99% untrue”.

Fedyck claimed that the video evidence showed Reynolds hitting the car and not the other way round. He also claimed that only his arrest for assault came up on news channels on Google search, sharing that the media never reported on the charges being dropped. He shared that he couldn’t get any job due to his bad reputation.

He shared with Flaa that Reynolds and Lively changed their stories multiple times throughout the legal proceedings. They allegedly used their publicist, Leslie Sloane, to present Fedyck as a dangerous maniac who stalked and tried to harm Reynolds. The legal proceedings alone allegedly cost him $100,000. He shared, “In total, I probably lost a quarter of a million dollars.”

Richard Fedyck’s Version of the Events Claims that Ryan Reynolds Was the Aggressor

According to Richard Fedyck, Ryan Reynolds was the aggressor in the incident. Fedyck claimed that Reynolds followed him on foot to the parking lot and allegedly tried to block him from leaving the premises. Fedyck shared that Reynolds admitted it to the police and told them that he had stood in front of the vehicle.

Reynolds allegedly demanded that Fedyck tell him why he was at the parking lot of his hotel. Fedyck claimed that he was at the property not to cover Reynolds, but to take pictures of Naomi Watts, who was also residing at the hotel at the time. He shared that Reynolds wrongly believed Fedyck to be stalking him.

He shared that when the police questioned Reynolds, the actor claimed that he stood in front of the car to protect himself and all the guests of the hotel against Fedyck. The photographer added that Reynolds didn’t call 911 before stopping him, nor did he call the security of the hotel.

Fedyck’s lawyers allegedly collected mountains of evidence against Reynolds in the incident. He claimed that during the legal proceedings, the police department tried to coerce him to take a plea bargain. However, when they couldn’t make any progress, they withdrew the charges after two years.
