Rachel Leviss is no stranger to mental health struggles, and as such, she wanted to express her support for Jax Taylor, who recently checked himself into treatment at a mental health facility. The Vanderpump Rules star made a short Instagram reel about Jax, but her wording caused her to receive a lot of backlash.
Rachel is famously an advocate for mental health awareness, and while she might not have gone about it the best way, she was clearly worried about Jax, as she has always fought to break the stigma surrounding mental health struggles.
Rachel Leviss Posted About Jax Taylor And Was Slammed By Fans
Rachel Leviss' attempt at sharing her sympathy for Jax Taylor's situation was not well-received, as the reality TV star decided to relate Jax’s situation to her own struggles with the way she’s treated on social media.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of Jax's mental health struggles and I wholeheartedly support his decision to seek treatment,” Rachel wrote on Instagram.
“I pray that his news is met with the open-mindedness that mine lacked, as I faced mockery and accusations of simply being in a spa,” she added, which caused outrage among followers.
“I hope he finds the healing that I did through my own journey. This situation highlights the urgent need for mental healthcare and accessible treatment for reality tv stars.”
Criticism quickly came in the comments, with fans accusing her of making a serious situation about herself.
“I'll say it once and I will say it again; your lack of self awareness is astonishing. Also, you and Jax's situations are 100% different how can you even compare??” a user wrote.
People also point out that it might have been better to reach out to Jax privately rather than continue to talk about something so delicate in public.
“I’m sorry but This is odd Rachel.. could’ve just left it at your sending of well wishes n done so privately? you quite literally took his moment n made it into you shaming ppl who’ve said things about YOU n YOUR situation,” another commenter weighed in.
Rachel Leviss About Mental Health
Ever since she was admitted into a mental health facility last year, Rachel Leviss has been very open about her struggles, so it's not surprising she decided to comment on what happened with Jax Taylor and offer her sympathy.
Not long ago, she opened up about a diagnosis that changed her life.
“Growing up school was very difficult for me. I did not realize that my brain was structured in a different way. I always just thought I was stupid because I couldn't pass my multiplication tables test, and I couldn't read as well as the other kids in class,” she said sadly. “I just thought I wasn't intelligent.”
Things became clearer in college when she was finally diagnosed with ADHD.
“I realized that I had been living with an invisible disability my whole life,” she shared in an episode of her Rachel Goes Rogue podcast. “Once I was diagnosed, I was able to take control of my life a little bit more and to get the accommodations that I needed for me to succeed in school. That truly was life-changing for me.”
While her wording might have been misguided, mental health awareness is clearly very important for her, so it would be wise not to assume she had bad intentions with her comments about Jax.
