Nobody Everybody wants this. Netflix‘s romantic comedy series starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, Nobody Wants This, was renewed for a second season less than one month after the first season’s release. The adorable yet steamy show about a rabbi and a sex podcaster falling in love became an instant smash hit, so it’s not too surprising that the story will continue. Now that season 2 is confirmed, fans are itching to know all the details they can get about the next chapter of Nobody Wants This.
Netflix Announces ‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2
The streamer officially confirmed season 2 on October 10, 2024, by sharing an announcement video on social media. “Put down your ice cream. NOBODY WANTS THIS is returning for season 2!!” the caption read.
Season 2 will have new showrunners at the helm — Girls alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, both of whom will also act as executive producers. Series creator Erin Foster and Craig DiGregorio were the showrunners for season 1. Erin will continue to serve as an executive producer for the second installment.
“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me,” Erin said in a statement, per Variety. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”
Who Is in the Cast of ‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2?
While the entire cast of season 2 has yet to be confirmed, it’s safe to say that Kristen and Adam will reprise their roles as podcaster Joanne and (hot) rabbi Noah, respectively.
It also seems likely that Timothy Simons will return to play Noah’s brother, Sasha, while Justine Lupe will likely reprise her role as Joanne’s sister, Morgan. Jackie Tohn was also a key player in season 1 as Sasha’s wife, Esther Roklov, as was Tovah Feldshuh, who played Noah and Sasha’s mom, Bina.
Other season 1 cast members included Paul Ben-Victor as Noah and Sasha’s dad, Ilan, Emily Arlook as Noah’s ex Rebecca, Sherry Cola as Joanne’s friend Ashley, Shiloh Bearman as Sasha and Esther’s daughter Miriam and Stephen Tobolowsky as Head Rabbi Cohen.
How Did ‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 1 End?
Nobody Wants This season 1 followed Joanne, who cohosts a sex podcast with her sister, as she met and fell in love with a rabbi named Noah. However, Noah’s family didn’t approve of Joanne, who was not Jewish. They were also rooting for him to get back together with his ex Rebecca. Joanne and Noah also faced a big obstacle in their romance when Noah realized he had a chance to become Head Rabbi — but the Head Rabbi could never date a non-Jewish woman.
Though Joanne briefly considered converting to Judaism for Noah, she ultimately realized it wasn’t what she wanted, which led them to split in the finale after Noah took the Head Rabbi position. However, their breakup lasted mere minutes, as Noah ran several blocks to meet Joanne back at her car. She asked, “So, how does this work?” The episode ended with a passionate kiss, signaling that Noah chose his love for Joanne over his dream of being a rabbi.
Now, Adam said that season 2 can follow the aftermath of his decision.
“In the light of day, will he still feel that way? I don’t know. It’s an open question. I think that’s what the show can explore,” he told Tudum. “What should he do? What should she do? What version of sacrifice is worth it? What constitutes growth, or what constitutes dimming yourself to be with someone else? It’s a sacrifice, but ideally, you grow together and you’re better for it — you don’t have to [lop] off a limb.”
