During her final roles, the actress starred in a single episode of Young Sheldon named The Geezer Bus and A New Model for Education. Appearing in Season 4 Episode 13 of the show, Diane Ladd portrayed the role of Hortense, a friend of Connie “Meemaw” Tucker.
She portrayed one of Meemaw’s friends, who was forced to ride on a church shuttle after Meemaw’s car was damaged in an accident. Given her iconic roles in a plethora of movies, it is easy to forget her single appearance in Young Sheldon.

The actress went on to win her BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Later on, she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television for the sitcom Alice.
The world was saddened by her death, and in a statement by her daughter, Laura Dern, she confirmed her mother’s demise.
Diane Ladd Had Been Diagnosed With a Serious Lung Condition

Passing away at the age of 89, the world paid tribute to Diane Ladd. However, in 2018, the actress had been diagnosed with a serious lung disease, more specifically, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Although her cause of death is not confirmed, it is certainly heartbreaking to see the loss of a great actress. Her daughter, Laura Dern, said in a statement to THR that she was a great person.
My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, Ca. She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created.
Diane Ladd is survived by her daughter, Laura Dern, who continues her mother’s legacy in Hollywood.
