After the whirlwind drama that shook Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s careers, the couple has now reportedly sought solace in attending Wrexham AFC events.
The Welsh soccer club, which is currently co-owned by Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has become the pair’s go-to during this intense legal battle against director Justin Baldoni.
Executive director Humphrey Ker revealed to The Telegraph that the Hollywood pair enjoys their trips to Wales, as most fans don’t look at them as famous personalities with an ongoing case.
I think what they love about coming to Wrexham is that no one there gives two sh*ts about [their celebrity]. What they care about is whether he’ll buy them a new centre back. It’s an escape.
It’s no surprise at all as the past year had been truly distressful for both of them, especially during the height of the controversy surrounding the filming of It Ends With Us. The actress filed a s*xual harassment lawsuit against the movie’s director, with Baldoni countersuing with a $400 million defamation claim.
Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively Suffered Amid Justin Baldoni Drama

The A-list couple faced backlash from the public amid their fight against Baldoni, which Ker observed took a toll on them. In the same interview, he said Reynolds and Lively are still suffering in silence even after the issue has slightly died down.
Ryan and Blake have obviously been slightly through the wringer over the last 18 months with all of that business, and are still going through that in some ways – it waxes and wanes in the public interest but things still continue to rumble on in the background.
He sympathizes with them during this tough time, but he also remarked that even though he’s fortunate to meet lots of famous people, the lives they lead aren’t something he wants for himself.
Wrexham Gives Reynolds & Lively A Chance to Redefine Their Image

Their Wrexham trips aren’t only a supposed escape from the turmoil of Hollywood drama, but also an opportunity to show a different side of them. As Ker revealed, the three of them tend to order a pint at village pubs outside the town, just like what regular people would do.
The atmosphere at Wrexham also allows them to let loose and have fun, with their attendance and show of support painting a public demonstration of their relatable and humble side. Indeed, this shift of image is exactly what the couple needs at this time.
The release of the Welcome to Wrexham sports documentary also proves advantageous for the couple, with the cameras catching a glimpse of them in town, meeting locals, and cheering alongside fans.
