Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer’s Ugly Twitch Controversy: What Happened After She Got Banned?

By Robert Moore 10/27/2025

Twitch streamers Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer were banned from the platform when a controversial clip resurfaced from their 2024 livestream. After a one-day suspension for both streamers, Twitch has now unbanned them, sparking backlash from the online community.

The disturbing video showed Lin and Spencer behaving inappropriately towards Said, who worked as an assistant of FaZe Silky. One of the moments from the clip showed Lin grabbing Said, while Spencer twerked on him. In another moment, the two forced him onto a bed, while Lin said, “Cut the cameras, bro. Zoe, do your s**t.”

The clip resurfaced a few days back, and Twitch seemingly acted upon the video evidence with a suspension for the two of them on October 24, 2025. Users who visited their accounts were met with the message, “temporarily unavailable due to violations of community guidelines.”

Twitch had already received backlash for the delayed response. However, fans are now ripping the platform for the trivial punishment of a ban lasting one day and 20 hours. Many fans claimed that the platform had undertaken stricter punishment for male streamers for less serious offenses. Some of the fan reactions read:

If 2 men forcefully held down a woman and tried to dance on her they'd be permanently banned https://t.co/M8V9zDgUG0

This is so fucking sad. She quite literally SA'd someone on stream and gets a 44 hour ban and a ton of promotion. If you'd reverse the roles and it was a guy that SA'd someone on stream, you'd never see him welcomed on Twitch again. https://t.co/bl8sO5kCYq

IShowSpeed was banned on Twitch for 2 years for words he said btw https://t.co/D2fY1y2kAf

Not a fan of him but Speed got a longer ban for making SA threats on stream (joking or not, ugh), but meanwhile actual SA gets a 1 day ban?

Not to mention, Emiru's assaulter originally got 30 days, not a perma.

Is Twitch trying to say something with this? https://t.co/7vVlqiJzyO

One week ban for calling someone fat but SA on stream gets 1 day?? huh
??? @Twitch @amazon

Prominent Twitch streamers like xQc and Asmongold reacted to the viral clip publicly. These streamers were disgusted by the video and wanted the platform to take strict action against Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer.

Nina Lin Apologized For Her Actions After One-Day Twitch Ban

Nina Lin addressed the situation after the suspension during a short livestream. She expressed regret for her behavior and admitted to how uncomfortable Said was with her actions. She shared:

I’m old enough to own up to what I did wrong. At that moment, I genuinely thought it was a joke. But I see now it was really wrong. What we did was wrong.

She also shared, “He clearly was uncomfortable with it. He was very hurt by it.” She further shared that she wanted to check on Said’s well-being. However, she added that she gave “zero f*cks” about those who tried to talk badly about her using this situation.

However, in an earlier video, Lin denied the s*xual assault claims and even claimed that it would be “embarrassing” for Said to call it assault.

While Lin has made a public statement after the suspension, Zoe Spencer has yet to comment on the whole situation.

Said Responded to Twitch Unbanning Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer

Said responded to Twitch’s decision to unban Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer via his X account. He shared that the platform’s decision to unban them was “just unreal.” He had described how the incident took an emotional toll on him during a recent livestream appearance.

this is just unreal https://t.co/3MA3PTzyw2

He shared that the ban of these two streamers didn’t really matter to him. He shared that it truly hurt when some of the commenters said that the situation was “not s*xual assault.” He further shared that he had previously gone through a s*xual assault and that the situation on the livestream brought back those memories.

He expressed gratitude to his friends who were by his side during this emotionally draining experience. In another deleted X post, he shared (via Complex):

I’ve been vocal about the situation originally and nobody cared. it took me a lot to talk about it again and for the third time it has hurt me once again where it’ll take me time to heal from it again. i’ve been invalidated by the other parties, which don’t realize what it did.

The situation comes up at a bad time for Twitch after streamer Emiru was assaulted during a meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025. The incident highlighted how the company had failed to provide safety for its creators and their teams.
