Nicole Kidman has reportedly applied for residency in Portugal, joining the elite celebrities of Hollywood, after her recent split from husband Keith Urban. The Oscar-winning actress, 57, has been eyeing properties in the exclusive Costaterra Golf and Ocean Club, a luxury development just south of Lisbon. The resort is dubbed as the “Hamptons of Portugal,” located an hour south of Lisbon (via Daily Mail UK).
The Comporta Resort is home to A-listers like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, George Clooney, and Paris Hilton. Last year, Prince Harry and Markle reportedly splashed out $4.7 million on a luxury beachside pad in the complex.
The actress is said to have applied for residency in Portugal earlier in July, with reports noting the absence of Urban’s name on her documents. Kidman reportedly filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, after 19 years of marriage.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are on Speaking Terms Only Through Lawyers
Since the divorce filing last month, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have reportedly not spoken directly. According to Scooper ShuterScoop (via Yahoo Entertainment), they are only communicating through their respective lawyers. Sources close to the couple said
It’s icy. They’re not even texting… Everything – custody to property and finances – runs through the lawyers.
Despite their public image as a loving couple, the reality behind closed doors was different. A Nashville insider revealed, “They were living separate lives” for some time due to their busy careers. Kidman’s demanding filming schedule and Urban’s touring created a significant distance between them. Another source noted, “They’re protecting their brands, but it’s brutal behind closed doors.”
Nicole was reportedly residing in England to film Practical Magic 2, while the country music artist was touring across the US and Canada in his High and Alive tour, and never visited her (via Skynews.com.au). Their split became official when Kidman filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

In a Harper’s Bazaar interview, published last Thursday, Kidman subtly addressed the pain of her separation from Urban. Reflecting on her life experiences, she said,
As I get older, I want to be able to share and impart the things I’ve learned. I’ve seen a lot, I’ve experienced a lot, and I’ve survived a lot.
She then added,
I want to pass on some knowledge and that wisdom, and whatever I’ve learned.
When asked about aging, Kidman emphasized the value of accumulating life experiences:
Maybe I haven’t been in this place, but I’ve experienced something similar to this, and I do know that I will get through it.
She also debuted a glamorous post-split makeover, including a new fringe hairstyle, while Urban was seen without his wedding ring. Meanwhile, Urban has also reflected on feeling “lonely and miserable” before their split. However, there are also rumors that he is already involved with a younger woman, possibly his guitarist Maggie Baugh, 25.
