Kojima went on to compare the show’s tone and concept to Jack Finney’s 1955 novel Invasion of the Body Snatchers. “It’s still too early to tell, but… could this be Vince Gilligan’s take on Invasion of the Body Snatchers?” he said, noting that he can’t wait to see more of the series.
Pluribus Premieres with a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score
Hideo Kojima isn’t alone in applauding Vince Gilligan’s latest creation. Pluribus, the celebrated Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator’s long-awaited sci-fi drama, has debuted on Apple TV to universal acclaim, earning a flawless 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critics are hailing the series as a bold, unpredictable, and deeply original work that reaffirms Gilligan’s mastery of storytelling. “Vince Gilligan’s long-awaited return is a compellingly strange, Black Mirror-style sci-fi satire,” wrote Dan Jolin for Empire Magazine.

Pluribus follows Carol Sturka, who finds herself one of the few humans not infected by a mysterious extraterrestrial virus that has transformed almost everyone into a perpetually happy hive-mind. She must navigate this strange new world.
The sci-fi drama has captivated audiences and reviewers alike. With its thought-provoking premise and stunning execution, the show marks a daring, genre-defying triumph.
Vince Gilligan Spent Nearly a Decade Developing Pluribus
Vince Gilligan has revealed that he has been working on Pluribus for nearly a decade before its release. Speaking to Variety in a recent interview, Gilligan revealed, “I started pondering this idea almost 10 years ago.” He also revealed how the show focused on a male protagonist.

“It was originally about a guy, because I tend to think that way,” he said, explaining how an Earth-shattering event causes everyone around him to suddenly become unfailingly kind, so much so that they would sacrifice themselves for him.
However, he eventually realized the story would be more powerful with a female lead and that the role should belong to Rhea Seehorn.
“She’s got a wonderful charisma. And she can do anything — make you laugh, make you cry,” Gilligan said, talking about the Emmy-nominated actress, who plays Carol Sturka in the Apple TV series.
