Meghan Markle’s CBS Interview Delves Into Her Experience Being Bullied After Leaving The Royal Family

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview on CBS Sunday Morning delved into a lot of sensitive topics, and some of them included the Duke and Duchess’s personal experiences. While they haven’t shared that many details about what they suffered after stepping down from royal duties since their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan felt compelled to speak up about a sensitive subject.

Meghan's mental health struggles have been widely discussed after she revealed them back in 2021, but she is now using this experience to help other people who suffered similar things she did.

Meghan Markle Opened Up About Suffering Bullying

While discussing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s work with families whose children have suffered from bullying, the Duchess opened up about her own experience.

“When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey — certainly part of mine — is being able to be really open about it,” she said about it.

“And you know, I haven’t really scraped the surface on my experience. But I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way. And I would never want someone else to be making those sort of plans. And I would never want someone else to not be believed.”

Meghan was honest about how hard it can be to share certain things about her experiences with bullying, but also highlighted the importance of being honest about it, as it helps people feel less alone.

If me voicing what I have overcome will save someone, or encourage someone in their life to really genuinely check in on them and not assume that the appearance is good, so everything’s okay, then that’s worth it. I’ll take a hit for that.”

Meghan Markle About Her Mental Health Struggles

Meghan Markle's candid statements about her mental health struggles in her interview with Oprah still resonate with people, as amid speculation regarding her and Prince Harry's then-recent departure from the UK, she shocked viewers by revealing how poorly she had been treated as part of the royal family.

"In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time…  so we have in tandem the conversation of ‘He [her son] won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born," she revealed.

Meghan then went on to say that the lack of protection and constant harassment from the public, which she had never been prepared for, led her to struggle with suicidal ideation.

"I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry, especially, because I know how much loss he’s suffered," she confessed.

"But I knew that if I didn’t say it, that I would do it. And I… I just didn’t …  I just didn’t want to be alive anymore . And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. And I remember — I remember how he just cradled me. And I was — I went to the institution, and I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help."

With Harry's support, Meghan has come a long way since then, and it's heartwarming to see she is now using what she learned from this difficult experience to help others.
