While it may have been many years since we last saw Jeremy Renner in any major movie, the star has been active on TV. But what many have not caught up on are the controversies that have surrounded him in recent times.
Thus, from his ongoing custody battle with his now ex-wife to allegations of harassing a filmmaker, here are some of the controversial situations that the MCU star found himself in his lifetime.
1. Jeremy Renner Disputed Over His Daughter’s Trust Fund
In many reports and lawsuits filed that have recently been released, it seems like Jeremy Renner has disputes over the trust fund that he created for his daughter with his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco (via Welch Law).
According to these files, there are several amounts, which are owed or paid over how trust funds for their daughter were managed, and public statements by both sides have resulted in a contradictory mess.
2. Jeremy Renner Clashed With His Ex-Wife Over False Allegations
The disputes over the trust fund stem from the separation of Pacheco and Renner, which happened in 2014. All the way back in 2019, Pacheco claimed that the MCU star displayed extremely violent behaviour when they were together, claiming that she was threatened by a gun in the presence of their daughter (via TMZ).
She also claimed that Renner has a drug problem and would leave recreational and even illegal drugs out in the open, which were easily accessible to their daughter. Although he was vindicated, he still fights a fierce legal battle for his daughter’s custody.
3. Jeremy Renner Allegedly Harassed Filmmaker Yi Zhou
One of his recent controversial developments was alleged by Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou that Renner had harassed her by sending ‘personal and intimate photographs of himself.’ According to Zhou, she started to date the star back in June, which quickly turned sour when Renner began showing erratic behavior (via Variety).
In a recent interview with The Daily Mail, the filmmaker also alleged that Renner became extremely violent during an evening when they were discussing a project. According to her, after he consumed a bottle of wine alone, he started verbally being aggressive, which led to her locking herself in her room, saying:
I had to location share to my team, my parents and Disney colleagues in case something happens to me they know where I am. I had to lock myself in a room to be safe praying he would not come into the room at night as he was really angry. I did not say a word, I was so scared for my life.
According to one of Renner’s reps, the star is denying any of these events ever taking place, and further actions are yet to be decided.
