Love Island USA Season 7 star Huda Mustafa cannot catch a break. The reality TV star has been dropped by the major beauty brand, Huda Beauty, following her controversial Instagram live.
In a recent Instagram post, the beauty company revealed that they have ended their partnership with Mustafa, stating that they found her actions deeply unsettling.
This action was taken not because of any creator or influencers content, this was taken due to the lack of seriousness around the issue and to people close to us who were offended by the actions during the live. Please remember this is about accountability not canceling people.
Wrote the brand in the caption, explaining that they are disappointed by Mustafa’s live and that her recent behaviour does not reflect the brand’s principles. While fans did not like the brand’s decision, the reality TV star has yet to make a comment.
What Went Wrong With Huda Mustafa?

Love Island USA star Huda Mustafa made headlines recently when she went live with her partner and Too Hot to Handle star Louis Russell. During the livestream on Russell’s Instagram, the couple was seen answering a call from an unknown caller.
During the short call, the caller called Mustafa’s former co-star Olandria Carthen the n-word. After hearing the word, the two were seemingly shocked and disconnected the call, but proceeded to laugh (via USA Today).
This led to severe backlash from fans, many of whom called Mustafa racist and Russell a bigot. Even Carthen took to Instagram to call the livestream unacceptable. In a since-unavailable Instagram story, she stated (via USA Today):
Words like that carry generations of pain, and pretending otherwise only keeps the cycle going. Defending it, laughing about it, or making excuses is even worse. I will not let this moment derail my purpose of uplifting my community. I’m standing firm in who I am and using this as an opportunity to call for real accountability and awareness.
This is not the first time that Carthen has called out Mustafa. Previously, during the Season 7 reunion, the reality TV star called out her co-star for failing to acknowledge and call out the racism her fans have displayed towards her and Chelley Bissainthe after the end of the show.
Did Huda Mustafa Apologize to Olandria Carthen?

Huda Mustafa did not initially react as fans wanted to following the controversial live. She took to her Instagram story, clarifying that neither she nor Russell heard what the caller said or the racial slur they used. She wrote that the laughter was because the situation was awkward, and everything the caller said was inappropriate.
Later on, in an official statement on her Instagram stories, she apologized to Carthen and others (via PEOPLE):
I want to begin by saying I completely respect Olandria and it’s extremely disheartening that anyone, especially a presumed child, would find it excusable to use this type of language, and doing so only underlines the ignorance of the gravity that such a word carries.
She added,
I want to be clear that I do not condone or tolerate anyone who uses such language and I strongly encourage the individual responsible to reflect deeply on their words and the harm they’ve caused.
She also added that she would be making a personal donation to the NAACP. Russell, too, via his Instagram stories, condemned the use of such language, while maintaining that they did not hear the racial slur (via TMZ).
Despite their apologies, the hate and criticism have continued, with many labeling the couple disrespectful and tone deaf.
