Eurovision legend Linda Martin has revealed she is considering running for the Irish Presidency.
The singer confirmed this week that she was approached by a political party and is currently “mulling it over”.
Speaking to Oliver Callan on his RTE Radio1 show, Linda said laughing: “In future, you should address me as Lady President?
“I’m saying nothing at all. That’s all I’m saying. You’ll have to wait and see now,” she added.
“Can you imagine all the dogs in Áras?”
The singer couldn’t reveal which party had approached her, however, she added that she would consider running with the party rather than as an Independent.
The Belfast native runs The Dublin Dog Hub and has been providing a sanctuary for abandoned animals since 2023.
Linda claimed victory at the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest with “Why Me?” a song penned by fellow Irish winner Johnny Logan.
While more recently, she joined other Eurovision champions Niamh Kavanagh and Eimear Quinn to perform Loreen’s 2023 winning song Tattoo on The Late Late Show Eurosong Special.
President Michael D Higgins’ second and final term will officially be over later this year, and a host of famous faces are apparently in the race for the Aras.
Last November, Michael Flatley even said he wouldn’t rule out running for the Irish presidency.
Only time will tell!
