Latest Update on D4vd and the Murder of 15-Year-Old Celeste Rivas: Did D4vd Get Arrested?

By Daniel Hernandez 10/28/2025

The murder case of Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been gaining tremendous traction since the body of the 15-year-old was first found in the track of the Tesla registered under D4vd’s name, but the investigation and discovery appear to be going awfully slow. So far, the latest update in the case has only revealed the hypothesis on the possible cause of death of the teen girl by a new private investigator, Steve Fischer, hired on the case.

As reported by Men’s Journal, Fischer was hired by the owner of the Hollywood Hills home where D4vd had been living. Apparently, the house owner “wants to understand exactly what may have happened and if his house played a role in any way.” Thus, Fischer has had access to the house to perform his own investigation in the case, and has reportedly since even obtained numerous pieces of evidence himself.

Based on all the evidence unearthed so far, as well as the way the authorities are investigating the incident, the private investigator deduced a hypothesis on the potential cause of the death of Celeste: An accidental drug overdose. Fischer said,

They are probably relying on toxicology to better understand what happened, which means it could be an accidental overdose with a really bad decision made afterwards.

While that’s that, it’s worth noting that this is just a hypothesis, and nothing has been officially confirmed, as of this writing. The authorities and medical examiners, as of now, have yet to make final determinations in the case. Plus, even if this hypothesis turns out to be plausible, authorities would still need to figure out how her body got into D4vd’s car in the first place, meaning there’s still a long way to go in this case.

Has D4vd Been Arrested in the Celeste Rivas Case?

For those wondering if D4vd has been arrested in the case, here’s the news: No, he hasn’t.

In fact, so far, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), which has been investigating the case for more than a month now, has not even named any suspects yet, let alone determined the cause of her death and whether or not a homicide was committed in the respective murder case of Celeste Rivas (per Men’s Health).

A new statement issued by the authorities earlier this month said (via Rolling Stone),

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death. As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body. RHD is thoroughly examining every aspect of this case to uncover the truth and seek justice for Celeste Rivas Hernandez and her family.

At the moment, the LAPD has also not ruled out the possibility of an accidental death, so that’s that too. It has yet to be known just how deep D4vd’s involvement in this murder case actually is.

All the Confirmed Facts So Far About Celeste’s Murder Case

The investigation into Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s murder case has been going pretty slowly, with very little evidence found so far in the nearly two months that the case has been under scrutiny. Still, here are the confirmed facts, listed right from the moment that the body was found.

On September 8, 2025, a decomposing body was found inside a Tesla at an impound lot in Hollywood. It was found that the car was registered under musician D4vd’s name, whose real name is David Anthony Burke. This vehicle was brought to the impound lot after “someone reported it abandoned” in the Hollywood Hills.

The police were called after workers “reported a strong odor” coming from the car. The investigation that followed revealed that the vehicle was never reported as stolen. Additionally, the odor was found to be coming from the remains of the badly decomposed body, which was discovered inside a bag in the Tesla’s front trunk.

The remains were not intact and reportedly decomposed to the point that it took authorities more than a week to identify them. On identification, it was revealed that the body was that of Celeste Rivas. With Burke being connected to the case because of his car, police raided a home linked to him as part of their investigation. The singer, meanwhile, moved out of that home.

As for Burke’s reported involvement, the singer has a matching tattoo with the deceased. Celeste’s mother even said that her daughter had been missing for a year, and that Celeste’s boyfriend was named ‘David’. Plus, an unreleased love song written by the singer references someone by the name of ‘Celeste’ in the unfinished title and the lyrics. Numerous other theories from fans have also since emerged in the case.

Following his being linked to the case, D4vd initially decided to continue his world tour while cooperating with the investigation. However, he has since cancelled the remainder of his tour. As of this writing, the medical examiner has been unable to determine an official cause of death, and Burke is not considered a suspect at this point.
