After Hulu’s All’s Fair, Kim Kardashian is expanding her portfolio, and this time, Netflix has knocked on her door. Deadline exclusively reported that Kardashian will soon be starring in Netflix’s comedy movie, The Fifth Wheel.
The movie will follow the story of a group of best friends from high school, “attempting to reconnect during a weekend jaunt to Vegas. When a hot outsider [Kardashian] crashed the weekend, they’re forced to face their messy lives, bad decisions, and unraveling friendships” (What’s on Netflix).
Only Murders in the Building star Eva Longoria is now on board as the director. So far, there are no other known cast members aside from Kardashian. All we know is that the socialite will be joined by a “female ensemble cast.”
The Fifth Wheel is penned by SNL writer Paula Pell and Girls5eva writer Janine Brito. Kim Kardashian and Pell will produce the film alongside Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell under Gloria Sanchez Productions. Additionally, Cris Abrego and Longoria’s Hyphenate Media Group are also attached as producers.
As per Deadline, the script is being described as one of the funnier ones by those involved in the auction. The deal was sealed when Sanchez boarded the project.
What Are People Saying About Kim Kardashian’s Legal Drama, All’s Fair?

With the reception of All’s Fair Season 1, Kardashian has a lot to prove. Hulu’s legal drama follows the story of a successful divorce lawyer running an all-female firm in LA. While the story seemed promising enough, the series has received an unhealthy amount of negative reviews from critics, with some calling it the worst show of the year.
Not only did Kardashian’s acting face the public’s wrath, but so did the script. Critic EJ Moreno stated in his review that it “pains” him how All’s Fair failed to “find its footing“, despite it being a Ryan Murphy project. He added, “It’s not even ‘so bad, it’s good.’ It’s one of the worst shows of the year.“
The Wrap took it a step further by stating in their brutally honest review, “Murphy seems to have lost the magic touch that made his work so appealing for so long. His snark has rotted into contempt, for audience and art alike.”
Others have called out Kardashian’s monotone and stiff acting as the Internet personality looked bored half the time. The writing and authenticity of the show have also been criticized.
On the other hand, the common public seems to be a fan, calling it a show for the “girls and the gays”:
am i the only one who is enjoying ryan murphy’s all’s fair show?.. pic.twitter.com/LbJMjdSuA7
All’s Fair is a 10/10 so far I don’t see the reasoning for the outrage pic.twitter.com/tlNz42SjKS
alls fair is NOT that bad, it’s chic and camp like clearly it’s not here for awards it’s just a silly girls drama that is over the top and doesn’t take itself super seriously…it’s mess for the gworls and the gays truly pic.twitter.com/YiwAM9sAZh
All’s fair is a great show if you have no high expectations, it’s fabulous… stop complaining #AllsFair pic.twitter.com/78S5dYyrGF
While it is worth noting that All’s Fair debuted with a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the truth is that critics and fans are somewhat divided on the show. Guess it’s just one of those guilty pleasures people talk about!
All’s Fair Co-Director Defends His Show From Criticism

Executive Producer Anthony Hemingway, who has directed a handful of All’s Fair episodes, clapped back at the haters, stating that not everything has to be for everyone.
Defending his show loud and proud, Hemingway said to The Hollywood Reporter, “You’re not going to please everybody. You may have certain criticisms, while there are a million others who love it.“
He added that the show is all about whether a viewer can “relate” or “connect” to it, which can be said for anything that’s on these days. Hemingway clarified that at the end of the day, it’s “entertainment, it’s comedy, and it’s a matter of finding ways to tap into real conversations and real human dynamics in a different way.”
The director added,
It may not be for you, and that’s OK, but I personally enjoy the show. I had a lot of fun relating to it in my own way. Not everything is for everybody, and you can’t also expect one person to define something and for that be the totality of what it is — I don’t agree with that.
There you have it. All’s Fair may not be your cup of tea, but there are many, including Hemingway, who adore the show. As for Kardashian, love her or love to hate her, she’s not slowing down anytime soon. Perhaps The Fifth Wheel would please the critics?
