Katy Perry enjoyed a playful moment, sticking out her tongue with KISS legend Gene Simmons during the filming of American Idol on Sunday. The 39-year-old singer, known for her Һit “Firework,” had recently flaunted a cheeky ensemble at Coachella. On this episode, contestants performed songs from Rock & Roll Hall of Faмe inductees, whose 2024 inductees were also announced, including Mary J. Blige, Cher, and Dave Matthews Band.
Perry, dazzling in a figure-hugging turquoise dress, posed excitedly with Simmons, 74, who served as a guest mentor. Her dark locks were elegantly styled, and her makeup featured a glamorous touch with mascara, smoky eye shadow, blush, and nᴜde-colored lipstick. She kept accessories minimal, wearing flashy silver earrings. Simmons, renowned for his role in KISS, looked sharp in a classic black suit with a white shirt and stylish brown shades.
Both Perry and Simmons playfully stuck out their tongues, a signature move for Simmons during KISS performances. Later, they were joined by fellow American Idol judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie for a memorable photo. This wasn’t the first time Perry and Simmons struck such a pose; they did so at the 2015 Starkey Hearing Foundation Gala.
During the episode, the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fɑme inductees were announced, with performers including Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gɑng, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest. The Musical Excellence Award recipients included Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield.
Perry also shared a humorous video on her Instagram page from the American Idol set, joking about her song “California Gurls.” The current season marks her seventh and final as a judge on the show. Despite her departure, Perry hinted at new projects, potentially including her sixth album, during the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Event in Los Angeles.
