Joyce Carol Oates Eviscerates Elon Musk Again Like Piano Wire Through Tofu: “Truly it was out of curiosity”

By Kevin Thomas 11/11/2025

In a recent post made on X, author Joyce Carol Oates’ question about Elon Musk’s social media posts went viral, where people declared that she eviscerated the billionaire for his claimed lack of human empathy.

Truly it was out of curiosity: why a person with unlimited resources exhibits so little appreciation or even awareness of the things that most people value as giving meaning to life. Just minimally well to do people donate to charities, local museums & libraries & the like; they… https://t.co/uTUPB2pbQR

But when it came to this claim, she took to her X once more to clarify that she was genuinely curious about Musk’s social media posting patterns, where he’s all business and seldom talks about normal things that most people tend to do.

Joyce Carol Oates vs Elon Musk: The Tweet That Started It All

In a recent post made on X, author Joyce Carol Oates asked a question to the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, about why he never posts about things that normal people tend to do, like nature and family. While this may have been a simple and curious question, it soon turned into a ‘Gotcha’ moment for the entrepreneur.

So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates— scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend’s or relative’s… https://t.co/xMxQGSVqEt

People started sharing the tweet, talking about how she so eloquently managed to dissect the thought process of the tech billionaire, who mostly thinks about his companies and businesses rather than thinking about life.

Elon Musk’s Response Proves the Veteran Author Got Under His Skin

And as Musk usually tends to do, the Big Bang Theory star took to the platform to talk about Oates’ post. He shot back at the author, claiming that she was being mean to him just for the sake of it.

Oates is a liar and delights in being mean. Not a good human.

Also, as soon as her post started getting traction, he was seen retweeting about old TV shows like Monty Python and conversations with Grok about Lord Ganesha from the Hindu mythology.

💯😂

Thus, it seems like the recent tweets by Oates may be getting under the skin of Musk, which makes all his detractors even more motivated to spread her word.

Our Thoughts on Oates’ Comment on Musk’s Hatemongering

The hate towards Musk isn’t something new, and seemingly stems from his polarising opinions on the internet, and his support for the current POTUS, Donald Trump.

But at the same time, seeing his push for Artificial Intelligence through Grok and creating massive data centers across the US, the sense of humanity in him is being claimed by people to be going down even more. Although in our opinion, this is normal for someone who has extremely high ambitions for a tech-focused future.

And since he is running a multi-trillion-dollar business with his companies, it’s only natural for him to use his platform to promote and see the stock prices rise higher than before.
