Known for keeping her private life tightly under wraps, Jennifer Lawrence has once again made headlines, this time for discreetly handing over the keys to her Beverly Hills mansion in a hush-hush $11 million deal. The Academy Award winner snapped up the luxe estate in 2014, fresh off the box-office success of X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.

Before she moved in, the estate had hosted A-listers like Jessica Simpson and Ellen DeGeneres. Lawrence initially paid $8.2 million for the residence, and property records show it was registered under a trust in her father Gary’s name, suggesting the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home may have been purchased for her parents.

The estate was originally listed at $7.9 million, indicating that she paid above the asking price to take it off the table. It featured a French-style design that was extensively remodeled by a designer before Lawrence’s purchase. At the time, real estate descriptions emphasized the property’s airy living room, stately dining room, and a modern kitchen equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and Carrera marble countertops.

An elaborate staircase ascended to the second floor, where three bedrooms were located, including a primary suite with its own balcony, sitting area, walk-in wardrobe, and an opulent bathroom. While the property was marketed as a four-bedroom home, previous owners had converted one room into a dressing area with a salon-style vanity and en-suite bathroom, and another into a private lounge. Exterior spaces maintained the same level of refinement, with landscaped gardens designed to create a sense of privacy, a lily pond populated with koi, and an alfresco dining area intended for hosting.

The overall presentation made the mansion one of the most sought-after homes in Beverly Hills during the mid-2010s. Lawrence primarily resides in New York City with her husband Cooke Maroney, who was born and raised there. The Beverly Hills residence was reportedly the last California-based property in her name, suggesting a formal end to her ties with the region. Although Lawrence has not shared her motivations for parting with the home, the timing follows a major life development, as the actress announced in April the arrival of her second child.

In recent years, Lawrence has made New York City her home base, frequently investing in Manhattan real estate. Since tying the knot with Cooke Maroney in 2019, she has bought and sold multiple high-end properties in the city. Lawrence began her acting career as a teenager, appearing in television roles before landing a main cast spot on The Bill Engvall Show. She made her feature film debut in the drama Garden Party and earned critical acclaim with Winter’s Bone, playing a poverty-stricken teenager.

The Kentucky-born actress rose to prominence portraying Mystique in the X-Men film franchise and Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series. For two consecutive years, Lawrence was the highest-paid actress in the world according to Forbes, earning $52 million pretax in 2015 and $46 million pretax in 2016. Jennifer Lawrence has a net worth of $180 million, thanks to a series of major roles, critical acclaim, and blockbuster hits that have earned over $6 billion at the global box office.
