Is Leonardo DiCaprio’s Favourite Christopher Nolan Film On Streaming?

By Brian Garcia 11/10/2025

Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed his favorite Christopher Nolan film, and while the answer might surprise you, we can hardly blame him. While promoting his recent film, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, in an interview with Collider, the actor remarked that The Dark Knight is his favorite of all time.

Part of the Dark Knight trilogy, the film is one of Nolan’s most respected and revered films. While it is a superhero film, at its heart, it is so much more than just a tale about Batman saving his city. Grounded, linear, fascinating, and decisive, the film is truly one of Nolan’s best works of all time. Currently, it is available for streaming on HBO Max in the United States.

Leonardo DiCaprio Reveals Films That Shaped His Craft

While talking to Collider’s Steven Weintraub, Leonardo DiCaprio was asked about his favorite picks from some of Hollywood’s finest filmmakers. While he had his heart set on The Dark Knight when it came to Christopher Nolan, the actor revealed his other non-negotiable picks as well.

When asked about a favorite Steven Spielberg film, the Titanic star stated it is hard to pick because of so many masterpieces he has done. But ultimately, he ended up choosing Jaws as his all-time favorite Spielberg flick.

But when asked about his favorite Stanley Kubrick film, DiCaprio found it tough. Although he did choose 2001: A Space Odyssey, the actor listed others like Clockwork, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Barry Lyndon as his other favorites.

Clockwork [Orange], The Shining. I just watched Full Metal Jacket the other day…. Barry Lyndon’s incredible. There are too many to pick. But 2001, for me, I remember watching it for the first time on VHS, but then I got to see it at the Cinerama Dome. Christopher Nolan found the original film and projected it at the Cinerama Dome with the original sound. Talk about a movie that was so ahead of its time. It’s just incredible. Beyond the movie, it’s kind of a spiritual experience.

Well, his choices not only reflect his fine taste but also highlight artistic influences that might have helped him shape his craft. From Nolan to Kubrick, these picks are films that are not just films but stories that continue to endure.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Critically Acclaimed One Battle After Another is a Theatrical Flop

Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest film, One Battle After Another, has been garnering Oscar buzz. Based on Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel Vineland, and directed and written by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film has garnered some exceptional reviews.

Currently, it has a 94% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, 4.3 out of 5 on Letterboxd, and 8.2 out of 10 on IMDb. With such brilliant reviews, the film has garnered over $196.8 million globally so far and might soon surpass $200 million, becoming Anderson’s highest-grossing film of all time (via Variety).

Yet, made against a budget of more than $130 million, with over $70 million spent in promotion, the film is set to lose an estimated $100 million during its theatrical run. This is because the ticket sales are split 50-50 between the studios and the theater owners (via Variety).

However, compared to other films, a film as critically revered as One Battle After Another will surely have a longer shelf life. In the upcoming weeks, Warner Bros. might not make much money, but it will surely earn a significant amount through the film’s Blu-ray sales, streaming, and television airings.
