The Stranger Things cast, including Jamie Campbell Bower, is promoting their upcoming fifth season with various appearances across the U.S. and the U.K. Recently, Bower appeared for a chat with the audience in London, and a fan video of the event is currently sparking some discussion. Throughout his appearances, Bower’s dressing choices have been garnering some attention.
Bower’s gender fluid clothing at these recent events generally received a positive response from fans who are into fashion. However, in the recent video, he appeared with an earring and a chain on his neck, embracing a more feminine look than usual. Fans on X began to question whether the actor was transitioning.

However, there is nothing to indicate that the 36-year-old actor plans to switch his gender. Bower has been in straight relationships in the past with his co-stars. The actor who plays Henry Creel / Vecna in the series previously appeared as young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. During this time, he dated his co-star Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the movies.
Later, he had a leading role in the movie adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments, where he starred opposite Lily Collins. Bower and Collins had an on-off relationship from 2013 to 2018. However, his current relationship status remains unknown.

Besides acting, Jamie Campbell Bower also has an active career in modelling and music. He is a model who has been a testimonial for various fashion brands. It could probably explain why his dressing style was so unique. He was a part-time model signed to Select Model Management at the beginning of his career.
In 2013, he appeared among Burberry’s Campaign Stars for spring/summer 2014. He posed for Dolce & Gabbana and Dior in 2016. He appeared for Hugo Boss’s Fall/Winter Campaign in 2017. He posed alongside model Erika Linder for Flaunt Magazine in 2018.
In 2024, he appeared for Tom Ford at the Milan Fashion Week. Most recently, in September 2025, he appeared as a model for Cartier and Ann Demeulemeester. He also pursued a career in music, originally becoming the lead singer of the band The Darling Buds, which never took off.
From 2015 to 2020, he was the frontman of Counterfeit, a London-based band that also featured his younger brother, Samuel Bower. In November 2020, the band parted ways, and he soon launched his solo music career. In 2024, he and drummer Kyle Adams started a new band called BloodMagic.
Jamie Campbell Bower Previously Opened Up About Mental Health Issues
Jamie Campbell Bower has been open about his struggles with alcoholism and mental health issues. In a 2019 video, he shared that he was recovering from his alcoholism. He detailed the journey in the video, sharing that honesty was one of the first things in his recovery journey. He shared:
I’m in recovery, so one of the first things that they teach you when you’re in recovery is to be super honest about what it is that you’re feeling, like guilt, shame, fear, sadness, whatever it is, the most important thing is, and it’s the hardest thing to do, is just express exactly what it is that you’re feeling.
In 2022, he earned praise after getting vulnerable on X about his recovery and mental health issues (via BBC). He shared that he was in active addiction, and it got so bad that he ended up in a hospital for mental health. He shared that he was seven and a half years sober at the time. He shared in the tweet, “I’m so grateful to be where I am, I’m so grateful to be sober. I’m so grateful to be. Remember, we are all works in progress.”
In September 2022, he appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and shared that he grew up with anxiety and used alcoholism to relieve his fears and insecurities.
