Jimmy Kimmel joked about President Donald Trump and the release of the Epstein files during his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! show. In the recent Kimmel episode, the host goes on a rant and opens with the following monologue (via Deadline):
We are now one step closer to answering the question: What did the president know, and how old were these women when he knew it?
The President went after Kimmel on Truth Social by posting the following message (via Deadline):
Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air? Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!
This is not the first time Trump has called for ABC to remove Jimmy Kimmel from the air, with Kimmel’s suspension lasting only a few days following nationwide backlash and stock prices plummeting. The Epstein files have been on the nation’s mind, and Kimmel continued to joke about the situation.
Epstein Rant: The Jokes Jimmy Kimmel Made at Trump’s Expense
Jimmy Kimmel took shots at the President throughout his opening monologue, making a remark about the vote to release the files: Congress went 427 to 1 “was such a landslide, Trump might actually be able to re-bury the Epstein files under it.”
Jimmy Kimmel played a clip of reporters questioning Mike Johnson, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, about the Epstein files and made remarks about Johnson’s reply:
[Mike Johnson] tried to get out of there before the ketchup bottle started flying at his head. They are so scared of Trump. What is going—is he beating them? I don’t get it. They just blindly defend him. … They’re taking the word of someone who paid a porn star $130,000 and claims he didn’t do anything with her.
Without mincing words, Kimmel riffed about Trump’s dinner for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, calling it “an alumni dinner for the legion of doom.” He went on to explain how cartoonishly evil the guests were, including Elon Musk and Stephen Miller, that the nation might need Austin Powers to step in.
Trump has signed a bill ordering the Justice Department to release all its files from its investigation into convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
When Will All the Epstein Files Be Available to the Public?
After signing the mandate to release the files, the justice department is given 30 days to release all the files “in a searchable and downloadable format”, as BBC reports. Under pressure from the victims and the entire nation, Trump changed his stance and allowed for the release of the files (via BBC):
Perhaps the truth about these Democrats, and their associations with Jeffrey Epstein, will soon be revealed, because I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!
BBC also reports that the House bill said the Justice Department can hold back any documents that “jeapordise an active federal investigation or ongoing prosecution, provided that such withholding is narrowly tailored and temporary”. In response to this, Jimmy Kimmel stated during his monologue:
We don’t know whether the Department of Justice will actually release all the files or if they’ll be tied up in investigations—specifically, investigations Trump orders to keep them tied up. Will we get the original documents, or is Trump going to pull a Taylor Swift and give us the Epstein files: Donny’s Version?
The public is likely to see delays because of redaction procedures, as the Justice Department has already claimed that they have over 300GB of data from Epstein investigations that includes images and videos of minors and thousands of downloaded videos and pictures of child s*x abuse.
