Remember the time Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson? Despite being one of the most hyped couples in Hollywood at the time, following their onscreen pairing and chemistry in the Twilight saga, she was caught in a cheating scandal with director Rupert Sanders. Oh, and by the way, this scandal earned the fury of Donald Trump, too!
This goes back to July 2012. At the time, the actress and the filmmaker had collaborated on their film together, Snow White and the Huntsman, which was released that year. Soon after the film was released, images of Stewart kissing Sanders and looking a bit too cozy together went viral on the internet, with both people involved showing infidelity.
While the Love Lies Bleeding actress, then 19, was in a relationship with Pattinson back then, The Crow director, then 41, was married to model Liberty Ross, who filed for divorce shortly after news of the reported affair surfaced. Following reports of her infidelity, Stewart issued a public apology for hurting Pattinson, her then-boyfriend of three years.
Unfortunately for them, though, this power couple’s reconciliation attempts ultimately fell short, and fans ended up losing one of their favorite lovebirds. But while that’s that, perhaps the most intriguing part of this entire story was President Donald Trump’s involvement, who went on an explosive rant soon after Stewart’s cheating scandal made shockwaves on the internet!
Why Does Donald Trump Hate Kristen Stewart?
After news about Stewart and Sanders surfaced, Trump pretty much launched into an explosive rant, going on X to share his numerous opinions on the matter with his fans almost every day, over the course of several months (see @BuzzingPop on X).
This included him saying how Pattinson “should not take back” Stewart because “she cheated on him like a dog & will do it again–just watch. He can do much better!” In another tweet, he posted similar thoughts even more confidently, writing about the actress, “She will cheat again–100 certain–am I ever wrong?”
Jennifer Lawrence recalls asking co-star Robert Pattinson about Donald Trump’s rant over his ex Kristen Stewart’s cheating scandal:
“I mean, if you think I didn’t ask him about Donald Trump tweeting about the breakup with Kristen, obviously. It was, like, three days after the… pic.twitter.com/dbscDpaODa
He also wrote, “Look, it doesn’t matter– the relationship will never be the same. It is permanently broken.” In one other tweet, Trump was seen offering Pattinson an “open invite” for the Miss Universe 2012 Pageant that year. He wrote in another tweet,
Everyone knows I am right that Robert Pattinson should dump Kristen Stewart. In a couple of years, he will thank me. Be smart, Robert.
Oh, and, besides offering advice, the president also tweeted on November 13 that year,
After Friday’s Twilight release, I hope Robert Pattinson will not be seen in public with Kristen–she will cheat on him again!
To say the least, of all the people, perhaps the one who seemed the most concerned about Pattinson getting back together with Stewart after she cheated on him was most probably Trump. After all, his repeated public criticism of the actress was quite surprising because he was not even involved in the relationship in the talk in the first place!
It’s worth noting, though, that, at the time, Trump was a businessman and reality television star with a highly active X account. Guess his strong opinions about infidelity, reflected through his scrutiny of Stewart, were just why he ostensibly hates the actress so much.
Jennifer Lawrence Confronted Robert Pattinson About Kristen Stewartʼs Cheating Scandal
Pattinson, 39, and Jennifer Lawrence, 35, recently joined hands to work on their flick ‘Die My Love’ together, and the actress didn’t miss the opportunity to ask him about his high-profile romance with his Twilight co-star, Stewart, and the cheating scandal that eventually brought their four-year relationship to an end.
During her October 17 appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the Hunger Games actress came clean about the same, sharing (via @BBC on YouTube),
I mean, if you think I didn’t ask him about Donald Trump tweeting about the breakup with Kristen, obviously. It was, like, three days after the photos came out with her with, you know, whatever. And Donald Trump was like, ‘He better leave her. He can do better than her,’ going on a huge rant.
But despite her curiosity over the situation, Lawrence tried not to judge Stewart’s former actions, showing some grace as she said, “Young people make mistakes!” Plus, even the actors themselves, i.e., Pattinson and Stewart, made it clear that they are now on good terms, more than a decade since the scandal, so that’s that too (via E! Online)!
