Daniel Stern, best known for his role as Marv Murchins of the Wet Bandits in Home Alone, was hospitalized earlier this month following a medical emergency. According to TMZ, the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a call at a residence in Somis, California, on October 7, 2025.
Sources later confirmed that the emergency involved Stern. Firefighters assessed him on-site before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Details about the cause of the medical issue have not been disclosed.
Fortunately, Stern has since been released and is reportedly doing well. His representative confirmed that the actor is recovering and in good spirits.
Daniel Stern Left Hollywood for Farm Life
In recent years, Daniel Stern has taken a step back from Hollywood to focus on farm life on his California ranch. The actor shared that his decision to step away from Hollywood was motivated by a desire to disconnect from the overwhelming reality of being a big star.
“I made enough money that I didn’t have to work,” he told People in a December 2024 interview, reflecting on how the financial security allowed him to stop working and fully focus on his passion projects without worrying about income.
I made enough money and I’m kind of frugal … I bought the house in cash. I bought the cars in cash. I bought everything straight up because as an artist, I never knew if [I was] going to make any more bread — What am I going to do with it? Am I going to keep chasing another part or that?’
Daniel Stern has since pursued his interest in copper sculpting, which has received support from fans online. “It’s a wonderful world, and I’m so tickled people have discovered some of my stuff through the TikTok thing there,” he added. He now enjoys solitude in nature and the peaceful life on his farm.
However, Stern has not fully stepped away from the industry. He is currently starring in the Apple TV+ science fiction drama For All Mankind and is set to write, direct, and star in the upcoming comedy film Everything’s Peachy.
