Game of Thrones star Harry Lloyd has been cast in the Beatles biopic, as per Variety. The actor, known for playing Viserys Targaryen in the first season of the hit HBO series, is set to play the role of the legendary producer George Martin in Sam Mendes’ four-part Beatles biopic.
George Martin was a British record producer, composer, and audio engineer best known for his groundbreaking work with the Beatles. Often called the ‘Fifth Beatle,’ he played a crucial role in shaping the band’s sound, producing nearly all their albums and helping translate their musical ideas into innovative recordings.
Why is George Martin Remembered as the Fifth Beatle?
The legendary producer of the Beatles, George Martin, is also known as the ‘Fifth Beatle.’ And the reason the music producer earned such a nickname is due to his significant influence on the band.

Trained in classical composition, Martin transformed their raw talent into some of the most innovative recordings in music history. He didn’t just record the Beatles; Martin also worked with each member of the band individually.
He encouraged experimentation, helped refine their songwriting, and translated their ambitious ideas into reality. Beyond technical brilliance, Martin provided mentorship and stability as the young band navigated fame.
His trust and openness allowed them to evolve from a pop group into cultural trailblazers. And as he shaped their sound as much as they shaped his legacy, George Martin continues to be remembered as the Fifth Beatle.
