In Netflix’s upcoming action-thriller Heart of Stone, Hollywood superstar Gal Gadot teams up with Bollywood sensation Alia Bhatt in a powerful partnership that crosses continents and cultures. With a storyline packed with espionage, cutting-edge AI, and globe-trotting adventures, the film is not only thrilling on screen but also marks a significant off-screen collaboration between two of the world’s most influential actresses.
Gal Gadot, who not only stars as the film’s lead but also serves as producer, has nothing but admiration for her co-star. Describing Alia Bhatt as “amazing,” Gadot revealed that their connection was immediate and effortless. “We hit it from the get-go,” she shared, highlighting how their cultural backgrounds — Gadot hailing from Israel and Bhatt from India — brought a unique energy and mutual understanding to the project.
The two actresses found common ground not just in their professional drive, but in their personal values as well. “We’re both very dedicated and hard workers, but we’re also family-oriented,” Gadot noted. “It was the smoothest relationship I’ve had stepping into a project.”
Heart of Stone, directed by Tom Harper, introduces audiences to Rachel Stone (Gadot), an elite spy working for a covert international organization known as the Charter. The group relies on a highly advanced AI system called the Heart — a technological powerhouse capable of assessing global threats and predicting outcomes with chilling accuracy.
But when the Heart is stolen by a skilled hacker, Keya Dhawan (played by Bhatt), Stone is thrust into a high-stakes mission to retrieve it before it falls into the wrong hands. What follows is a gripping narrative that places the two women on opposite sides of a global conflict — a dynamic that Gadot says was “delicious” to explore as an actor.
“Having a scene partner you trust completely changes everything,” she explained. “There’s a real give-and-take, a weight to every interaction. With Alia, there was no pretending — we were both fully in it. That kind of connection is rare and makes the entire experience more rewarding.”
The film dives deep into the duality of Gadot’s character. Rachel Stone is a master agent who thrives on adrenaline and mission success, yet struggles with following rules and maintaining emotional distance. “She’s full of contradictions,” Gadot said. “She’s not supposed to form connections, but she yearns for them. She’s wild, intuitive, and guided by her heart — literally and figuratively.”
This internal struggle is something Gadot relates to on a personal level. “Following your gut, listening to your instincts — that’s how I try to live too,” she admitted. Her portrayal brings a grounded realism to a genre often dominated by over-the-top spectacle, making Heart of Stone a compelling watch not just for its action but its emotional depth.
At the core of the film’s conflict is the AI system known as the Heart — a fictional technology that reflects real-world concerns about artificial intelligence. The Heart processes the digital footprint of nearly every person on the planet, using that data to forecast future events and suggest optimal interventions.
Though Hollywood has long flirted with AI-driven narratives — from The Matrix and I, Robot to Ex Machina — Heart of Stone feels especially timely. As discussions around AI governance, ethical use, and future impact dominate global headlines, the film taps into the zeitgeist in a way that feels immediate and relevant.
“When we were developing the script, we consulted experts in the field to create something believable and grounded,” Gadot explained. “We knew AI was a growing topic, but we didn’t realize it would be the hottest conversation by the time the film launched.”
Gadot herself is both intrigued and cautious about AI. “It’s fascinating, but also a little scary,” she confessed. “When you hear tech leaders calling for regulation, it’s clear we need to take this seriously sooner rather than later.”
Heart of Stone also stars Jamie Dornan, Sophie Okonedo, and Matthias Schweighöfer. The screenplay was penned by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder, with production by an accomplished team including David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Jaron Varsano, Bonnie Curtis, Julie Lynn, and Gadot herself.
Set to premiere on Netflix this Friday, Heart of Stone promises not only high-octane action and thrilling drama but also a fresh take on global collaboration in cinema. With Gadot and Bhatt at the helm, the film is poised to make a powerful statement — both on screen and beyond.
