Reports earlier emerged that Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas had broken off their relationship. However, a new report says that they had a no-strings-attached relationship in the first place. A source told RadarOnline that things were casual between the two after they quietly split years ago.
According to this new source, Cruise and De Armas met on the set of Wasp Network in 2019 and briefly (and seriously) dated for nine months. They allegedly rebooted the relationship while working on Doug Liman’s Deeper and have “found a better balance” in their relationship without worrying about marriage or kids.
The source claimed that the couple agreed to a “friends with benefits” relationship. They allegedly reconnected on a new casual level on the sets of Deeper, and a source close to them told Radar:
Tom and Ana have really enjoyed working together again. The time apart seems to have done them good – they’re in sync professionally and comfortable around each other in a way that comes from shared history. They have basically now agreed to be friends with benefits.
A source shared that Cruise and De Armas gave up on their original plans for marriage and kids. They claimed that the stars both knew their demanding schedules made it hard to maintain a romance. Another source claimed:
They’re just very fond of each other. They’ve both moved on personally from the idea they will settle down and start a family, but there’s a real bond that’s never gone away.
According to the source, friends of both Cruise and De Armas described their decision about marriage and kids as “grown-up and mutual.”

Another insider told RadarOnline that there was “no tension” between the couple but only “mutual respect.” The source shared, “They’ve found a better balance this time, and Tom doesn’t think what his Scientology colleagues think. He is finally trying to have fun in his old age.”
Sources also claimed that they rediscovered their chemistry through their work. A source shared, “There’s genuine affection there, but it’s evolved into something healthier – a s*x only friendship, but one that is rooted in respect.”
Their new relationship has allegedly impressed their co-stars on Deeper. A crew member on the film told Radar, “You’d never guess they used to date seriously – it’s all very professional, but there’s definite warmth there too. They clearly get on well, and it makes the set a happier place.”
Another longtime associate of the actor commented on his new outlook on relationships after three failed marriages with Hollywood actresses. The source shared that Cruise was in a “more reflective place now.” They shared:
He values fun and laughs – everything doesn’t have to be romantic and serious anymore. He’s mellowing with age. With Ana, he’s found a lasting friendship that works.
The source shared that the Blonde actress respected Cruise, and they understood each other. The source shared that they have been through a lot together, which showed in their relationship.
Other Sources Claimed that Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas Broke Up
Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise have been romantically linked for several months now, after several tabloids and media outlets reported on their alleged romance. A source has now revealed to The Sun that the couple have split after allegedly dating for less than a year. The source shared that they no longer had the “spark” between them.
The source claimed, “The spark had gone between them but they still love each other’s company and they’ve both been really adult about it.” It appears that the 63-year-old actor would remain friends with the 37-year-old actress. The source shared:
Tom and Ana had a good time together but their time as a couple has run its course. They are going to remain good friends but they aren’t dating anymore. They just realized they weren’t going to go the distance and that they are better off as mates.
In February, Page Six released photographs of the two of them having dinner on Valentine’s Eve. They were again photographed at the London Heliport in March (via PEOPLE). In April, TMZ also released pics of them in a helicopter. They were also seen together earlier this month at David Beckham’s 50th birthday party (via Daily Mail).
