Fact Check: Is Prince William Really a Dancing With the Stars Contestant?

By Richard Brown 11/12/2025

No, Prince William has not joined Dancing With the Stars as a contestant. However, he did end up making a virtual appearance during the 20th anniversary episode of the dancing reality TV show, which aired on November 11, 2025.

The Prince of Wales actually got on a FaceTime call to wish Robert Irwin and his dance partner Witney Carson. He said (via The Times),

Guys, you’ve got a seriously good chance of winning it. So, just the best of luck on the show.

The Prince of Wales could be heard speaking via FaceTime while the duo got ready for their performance. He also teased Irwin for not joining him at the Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which took place earlier on November 5.

We’re missing you, Robert. Whilst your twinkle toes are going off elsewhere, I need you down here.

He joked, while to Witney, he jokingly added that she needs to get him in as much glitter as she can. Prince William wasn’t the only surprise he got, as Robert’s sister, Bindi Irwin, paid a visit to him along with her 4-year-old daughter, Grace Warrior.

Bindi, who won the Mirrorball trophy in 2015 with Derek Hough, also joined her brother on the dance floor.

Are Witney Carson and Robert Irwin in Dancing With the Stars Semi-Finals?

Yes, Witney Carson and Robert Irwin have made it to the semi-finals of Dancing With the Stars Season 34. At the end of this week’s episode, Irwin was surprised when a video clip of his late dad and conservationist Irwin was played, making him break down in tears.

The duo did a foxtrot performance to Leona Lewis’ Footprints in the Sand, with even Bindi joining them on the dance floor at the end. The performance earned them a total of 40 points, the first perfect score of the season.

With only two episodes remaining, Irwin and Carson will be competing alongside Alix Earle, Elaine Hendrix, Jordan Chiles, Whitney Leavitt, and Dylan Efron. The semi-finals will air on November 18.

Recently, on the 20th anniversary episode of the show, Andy Richter and Emma Slater bid goodbye after getting eliminated, making them the eighth pair to get voted off this season.
