Fact Check: Did P Diddy Get Caught Committing a Crime in Prison?

By Richard Martin 11/08/2025

Yes, it appears P Diddy may have landed himself in trouble yet again. Just days after his move to a minimum-security prison in New Jersey, reports suggest the rapper-turned-inmate has already drawn the ire of prison officials. Sources told TMZ that Sean Combs was discovered with a concoction made from Fanta soda, sugar, and apples, fermented for two weeks to create an alcoholic brew.

Officials were reportedly displeased after finding him “drinking behind bars”, with prison insiders claiming there were brief discussions about moving him to another unit before that decision was reversed. This twist comes only weeks after Diddy told a judge he had finally embraced sobriety, declaring, “I was sober for the first time in 25 years.” His 50-month sentence has only just begun, yet such new rumors suggest his redemption arc is already on thin ice.

Diddy Wrote to Judge Claiming He’s Embracing a Sober Lifestyle

P Diddy’s latest predicament stands in stark contrast to his heartfelt plea for leniency during sentencing. Barely a month ago, he stood before the court, describing how he had “lost [his] way,” admitting:

I got lost in the journey. Lost in the drugs and the excess. My downfall was rooted in my selfishness.

In a handwritten letter, the 55-year-old music mogul spoke of “reading books” and “speaking with therapists” to arm himself with “tools and knowledge to deal with my past drug abuse and anger issues.” However, his list of troubles doesn’t end at the prison gate. According to News Nation, a Florida man, Jonathan Hay, has filed a s*xual battery lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of assault and false imprisonment during a 2020 music project for Notorious B.I.G.’s estate.

“The police didn’t do anything because, at the time, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was untouchable,” Hay stated. He further alleged:

The ultimate betrayal, the ultimate violation as a man for another man to do that to me. And I went through severe depression where I was suicidal.

For a man who once ruled the charts, these revelations paint a grim portrait of decline.

When Will P Diddy Be Released from Prison? Here’s What We Know

According to the Bureau of Prisons (via The Hill), P Diddy is slated for release on May 8, 2028. His 50-month sentence, stemming from pr*stitution-related charges, was handed down earlier this year, with credit for time served since his September 2024 arrest. His legal team has already filed an appeal to the Federal District Court in New York, challenging both the conviction and the sentence.

During his 12-minute sentencing address, Sean Combs confessed (per CBS News):

My domestic violence will be a heavy burden that I will have to carry. I make no excuse because I knew better. I was sick on drugs and out of control.

His attorneys urged the court to assign him to FCI Fort Dix, a low-security facility with a robust drug rehabilitation program designed to aid his recovery and facilitate family visits. Judge Arun Subramanian concurred, recommending his participation in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP).

Interestingly, FCI Fort Dix has hosted its share of infamous residents, including Martin Shkreli and R. Kelly. Per TMZ, insiders also allege that Combs is “banking on President Trump to pardon him,” reportedly telling inmates he expects a release “next year”.
