Known for starring in Emily in Paris, Lily Collins is following in the Barbie star Margot Robbie’s footsteps to star in Mattel Studios’ Polly Pocket movie. Deadline broke the news, revealing that the movie continues to move forward with Amazon MGM Studios, and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
Launched in the late 1980s, Polly Pocket is a miniature doll with a compact playset designed to fit in a pocket, which has since inspired a series of animated series and other adaptations.
Lily Collins Expresses Excitement to Star in the Polly Pocket Film
Lily Collins has been attached to the Polly Pocket film adaptation since 2021. And the actress has expressed excitement about starring in and leading a film inspired by one of her favorite childhood toys.

“As a child who was obsessed with Polly Pocket, this is a real dream come true, and I can’t wait to bring these tiny toys to the big screen,” the Emily in Paris star told Variety in 2021, when the movie was first announced.
In addition to starring in the movie, Collins will also be producing the movie through her production company, Case Study Films.
The actress, who is currently making waves with her presence at the New York Fashion Week 2025, is best known for her lead role as Emily Cooper in the popular Netflix romantic comedy. She is also set to star in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends.
What we know about the Polly Pocket Movie Adaptation
Since its launch in the 1980s, Polly Pocket has inspired several adaptations. Plans for a movie were first revealed in 2021, with Lily Collins set to lead the project.
Initial reports also revealed Lena Dunham as the director and writer of the movie, who expressed equal excitement for the project. “Polly Pocket was responsible for countless hours of childhood escapism for me,” Dunham told Variety in 2021. However, she is no longer attached to the project.




In a 2024 interview with The New Yorker, she revealed, “I’m not going to make the Polly Pocket movie. I wrote a script, and I was working on it for three years,” adding, “I felt like, unless I can do it that way, I’m not going to do it.”
According to Deadline, the movie is now being written by Jordan Weiss and Dan Brier, with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine co-developing the project alongside Amazon MGM Studios. Other details about the movie have not yet been revealed.
