Did You Know Jennifer Lawrence Once Auditioned for Twilight? Her Reaction to Robert Pattinson’s Sequel Idea Is Hilarious

By Steven Hernandez 11/09/2025

In a recent segment with Vanity Fair, The Batman star Robert Pattinson was sitting across from his Die My Love co-star Jennifer Lawrence, who dropped the revelation that she once auditioned for a part in the Twilight franchise. When Pattinson asked whether she wished to get the part, she answered with a simple no.

While they didn’t delve further into details, even Pattinson was shocked to hear this fact, considering he was one of the leads in the franchise in the form of Edward Cullen. At the same time, he also revealed that he would love to return to the setting once more, but there’s a catch.

Robert Pattinson Wants to Return to Twilight Under One Condition

In the same Vanity Fair segment, being hooked up to a polygraph, Lawrence asked about whether he wanted to return to the franchise if a sequel or a reboot was to be made. He answered that since he loves to do younger roles, he will take the opportunity, saying:

Oh yeah, for sure. I don’t think you should. It would be great! I like taking jobs of younger actors. I do. I want to play 17 again.

But the question in its entirety was if the Safdie brothers, consisting of Josh and Benny Safdie, were to direct the film, to which he accepted. This is due to his collaboration with the filmmaker duo on their 2017 crime/thriller film Good Time.

The film truly brought out the potential that the star had, with excellent emotional depth and range, mixed with a physical performance that made him more than just Edward Cullen from Twilight. In fact, this is also one of the reasons why he got to voice The Heron in Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and The Heron.

Thus, if the Safdie brothers are to be made creative leads in a Twilight project, expect Pattinson to return to the franchise as well.

Lionsgate Is Cooking Something New With the Twilight Franchise

While there may be no concrete information about a direct sequel to the series, Lionsgate still believes that it can do more with the Twilight franchise in the future. In fact, there’s already an animated project, titled Midnight Suns, that’s currently in development at Netflix and aims to expand the lore of the series even more.

At the same time, the production company also decided to re-release the entire Twilight Saga film in theatres once more in October of this year. This was done since Lionsgate acquired Summit Entertainment in 2012, with the assurance that they had plans for it in the future. And now, with strides being made with the IP, it seems like a reboot or a sequel might not be impossible.

Here’s more information on the first film that made the franchise iconic, titled Twilight.
