Many fans of the rapper believed him when he claimed that Halle Bailey had falsely accused him of abuse. However, their legal battle is still in court, and Bailey has the custody of her son while DDG has visitation rights. Fans in the comments bashed her for keeping their son away from his father.
You can support women and still acknowledge when a man might’ve been falsely painted as something he’s not. DDG didn’t deserve the internet dragging him through the mud like that.
they try so hard to paint her as an angel smh I can’t wait till the truth comes out
Who tf even watches this show? I have no idea what time of the day it even comes on, in fact I think I’ve only seen this hallway 100 times
Imagine smiling like this while making her son feel terrible about keeping his father away 🤦♂️
The backlash in question is just a bunch of chronically online DDG fans. Ain’t nobody outside that community taking that seriously😂.
Interestingly, Bailey had brought up this fan attack during her lawsuit. She claimed that DDG was riling up the fans against her. DDG and Bailey began dating in March 2022. They welcomed their son, Halo, in December 2023. The couple’s relationship became a topic of public scrutiny multiple times, all for the wrong reasons.
Halle Bailey and DDG Legal Battle Explained

Halle Bailey and DDG broke off their two-year relationship last year. In May 2025, she filed a restraining order against the rapper, alleging repeated violent behavior on his part. Following her restraining order, an LA judge ordered him to stay away from Bailey and their son Halo until a hearing in June 2025.
Bailey wrote in the court documents, “I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer” (via PEOPLE). She shared that DDG had called her “a b*tch” and “evil” in front of their son. She further wrote, “Whenever he wishes to cause upset, he starts badmouthing me to his several millions of fans.”
She also presented photographs as evidence of alleged physical abuse. In the photos, Bailey showed her injuries, including a chipped front tooth and a large bruise on her bicep. Bailey asked the court to order the rapper to attend a Batterer Intervention Program.
In his court appearance in June 2025, DDG, real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., asked the judge to block Bailey from taking away their son to Italy. He claimed in court that Bailey would pose “imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child based on repeated, documented threats of self-harm” (via Forbes). However, the judge denied this request.
Bailey alleged in court that DDG continued to turn his fans against her and send online hate her way. She shared that DDG told his followers on his livestream that Bailey had been keeping his son away from him. DDG sought sole custody of Halo, and the custody battle is still going on in court.
In August, the judge asked both DDG and Bailey to keep their son off their social media. The two of them were ordered not to post or share any “photographs, images and/or information” of their son online (via PEOPLE). These court documents also revealed a visitation agreement between Bailey and DDG, which allowed the streamer to have “peaceful contact” with her to coordinate his court-ordered visitation.
Halle Bailey Supported DDG Despite Fans Pointing Out All the Red Flags

Fans were not surprised when DDG announced his separation from Halle Bailey. Many fans shared at the time that DDG was always a walking red flag in the relationship and called out Bailey for being a willing participant. Fans even pointed out the Rubi Rose situation.

Rose and DDG had a short-lived relationship that did not end well, as seen from their public jabs at each other since their breakup. In February 2023, Rose called out Bailey for allegedly wearing her clothes. She went on to share screen grabs of DDG allegedly texting her while still in a relationship with Bailey.
The images caused an online controversy, with fans discussing DDG’s questionable behavior. However, the one half of the Chloe x Halle duo responded with a tweet, stating, “The devil is working. please don’t feed into the lies, especially from a third party” (via @PopCrave).

In an earlier interview with Glamour, Bailey shared that she wanted to keep her personal life private. She shared that people often put her on a pedestal and forget that “you’re a real human being.” She further shared that people looked at her like a young girl, but she wanted them to allow her to make her own decisions.
Another instance fans pointed out was when DDG was bashed for his lyrics in his single Famous after he expressed his insecurities about Bailey acting in films. Bailey played the lead role of Ariel in the Disney film The Little Mermaid. The lyrics included lines like “Filmin’ a movie now you kissing dudes” and “I don’t wanna see this shit no more.”
He also hinted at Bailey holding hands with co-star Jonah Hauer-King at the film’s premiere in the UK. He shared in his song, “Why is y’all holdin’ hands in the photo? You know I’m insecure, that’s a no-no / I keep comin’ back / Wanna leave you but I’m too attached.” The lyrics further go on to describe more details of his insecurities. He even called her a “famous b*tch” in the song.
