Deadpool author Rob Liefeld entered a conversation about the best Batman movie, and he has a solid pick. When the X user, @GRCinemaTicket, posed the two options for which Batman movie is the best, Liefeld chose Christian Bale‘s Batman Begins over Michael Keaton’s Batman Returns.
He went on to say that “Batman Begins is the best Batman ever”. Fans were obviously surprised to see Liefeld’s choice, given that The Dark Knight is considered the best out of Christopher Nolan‘s trilogy. However, one fan wanted to know why he chose Bale’s first Batman movie over Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman.
Liefeld had a very simple response to the fans’ question, sharing, “Acting. Story. Direction.” He effectively settled the best Batman debate, choosing Bale over Pattinson.

The comic book writer, who created the character of Cable, began his mainstream work with the drawing of Dawn Granger’s costume for the 1988 version of Hawk & Dove comics. He later worked as a guest artist on Teen Titans and drew the Tim Drake Robin in the comics.
Is Rob Liefeld Right in His Assessment on Christian Bale vs Robert Pattinson’s Batman?
Many fans had already debated the best Batman actor. A general consensus among fans was that Christian Bale killed it as Bruce Wayne, while Robert Pattinson’s stronghold was the Batman side of him. Pattinson’s The Batman had some of the best fight scenes that could rival the fights in Batman Begins.
Pattinson’s stunt combinations were quick, had great technique, and were executed in a pretty realistic manner. Moreover, fans also noticed how Pattinson’s character was also the creator of his Batman accessories, while Bale’s character was reliant on Lucius Fox for his advanced bat-gets and well-crafted suits.
However, fans believe that Nolan’s storytelling and the villains of the movies made Bale’s character into an unforgettable one. Batman Begins introduced Liam Neeson’s Ra’s al Ghul and his League of Shadows, as well as Cillian Murphy’s Scarecrow.
Meanwhile, Pattinson’s character was more of a detective in the movie. He did not have the kind of backstory that Nolan’s Batman had. It’s a hard choice to pick between the two actors, but Liefeld is known for his strong opinions.
Rob Liefeld Considers One Batman Comic to Be the Greatest Comic Book Ever
Rob Liefeld also has a great choice when it comes to the Batman comics. In one of his Instagram videos, he was seen watching the animated version of DC’s The Dark Knight Returns comics. While Liefeld found the animated version to be good, he shared that it couldn’t match its comic book counterpart.
Liefeld shared in the video that The Dark Knight Returns is “the greatest comic book”, adding that “it shook the world.” He shared that the events of this comic book storyline were still affecting Batman to this day.
He went on to claim that this comic “changed Batman forever.” He shared about the Batman comics, “The comics… When they make magic, it rises above everything else.”

Interestingly, Liefeld is not wrong in his choice. The Dark Knight Returns is considered one of the greatest and most influential comic books of all time. It introduced a much darker and mature version of the Caped Crusader.
