In a recent interview with Vogue, for their Questions from Everywhere digital series, Dakota Johnson revealed an interesting fact about what she considers to be a red flag in relationships. The Materialists actress was asked about it, to which she replied,
Men who wear flip flops.
Johnson also revealed that she isn’t a fan of colognes or any scents on others. She admitted,
I have a really specific olfactory situation happening for me with men and women and everyone.

After this, Turner, 29, did not feel gloomy about losing her lover; rather, the very next week she went on a date with Coldplay’s torch-bearer, Martin, 48.
Though their date was a ‘secret date,’ binoculars cannot take away and reveal the news at the time when Johnson revealed her red flag stint in a relationship!
It also seems that the X-Men actress appeared ready to marry into the aristocracy, but it might be that the personal differences and conflicting priorities got in the way.

Dakota Johnson and Martin’s relationship began after the two were spotted grabbing dinner at Sushi Park in Los Angeles in October 2017. Since then, Johnson had been attending some of Martin’s concerts to show love and support.
In December 2017, it was subtly confirmed that the pair was in fact a couple, which was somewhat solidified in January 2018 when the two arrived together at Soho House in Malibu, California (via People).
Not just this, Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom he shares two kids, also showed her affection towards Johnson. She even wished the Madame Web actress on Instagram for her 30th birthday.
Paltrow was also an anchor in Johnson-Martin’s relationship, so much so that when the couple split for the first time in mid-2019, Paltrow helped them come together.
Over the years, both Dakota Johnson and Martin evolved before finally calling it quits in June 2025. All’s well that ends well.
