Bone-chilling revelations have been made in the murder of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas-Hernandez, whose body was found decomposing in singer D4vd‘s car. Now, according to a new update in the case, the cause of death may never be determined.
TMZ recently reported that Rivas’ body had been frozen, due to which the L.A. County Medical Examiner may not be able to determine the actual cause of death.
The sources who confided in the outlet stated that the young girl’s body was in horrendous condition. Reportedly, she was found decapitated with her limbs removed and cut into multiple pieces, while her torso remained intact.
It has been reported that all of the body parts were “partially frozen” and were thawing in the trunk of D4vd’s car.
so let me get straight
He killed her, dismembered her body, froze her body so it wouldn't decompose too quickly, and then left the bags with her body parts in the car and went on tour, and the body parts decomposed for about 2-4 weeks in the car.
And because of this, it is now… https://t.co/zYS4mRkipn
Sources connected to the investigation have claimed that the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is looking at Rivas’ death as a homicide. However, on the other hand, establishing the official cause of death “will most likely be undetermined” due to the body’s condition.
D4vd Had a Large Freezer in His Rental

Adding to the gut-wrenching revelations, TMZ reported that the singer’s rental home had a freezer large enough to store a body. According to the photos published by the outlet, his kitchen includes a large KitchenAid freezer/refrigerator.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Singer D4vd — a suspect in the presumed homicide of Celeste Rivas — had a freezer large enough to store a body — a relevant fact since her body had apparently been frozen for months.

The height of the freezer is around 74 inches with a width of 14 inches and a depth of 27 inches, give or take. The temperature of the appliance can go as low as minus eight degrees Fahrenheit.
As established above, Rivas’ body was not only decapitated, but her limbs were also cut off. TMZ reported that the girl was 5’4″ and 120 lbs, meaning that it is quite possible her body would have fit in the freezer with the shelves removed.
In a resurfaced video from September 4, 2024, D4vd was seen in a different house with an appliance box behind him. The appliance seems to be a convertible chest/freezer with a removable storage basket and a capacity of seven cubic feet.

This was also around the time we saw the last of Rivas. Later, authorities reported that the singer traveled to a remote area of Santa Barbara County in Spring 2025 in the middle of the night. He allegedly spent hours there, and authorities believe that this may be where Rivas was dismembered. Another theory states that D4vd’s accomplice may have been the one to do so.
D4vd Is Not Cooperating With Investigators

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is apparently “not cooperating” with investigators, a source told PEOPLE. The source also added that, contrary to previous reports, Burke hasn’t been cooperative from the start.
Previously, it was reported that Burke was “fully cooperating” with the authorities during the investigation (via Variety).
Moreover, the source claimed that despite the growing outrage in the country, the police have yet to interview Burke. There is still uncertainty surrounding the crimes he or his accomplices may have committed.
Regardless, Burke, who had been on tour when Rivas’ body was found in the trunk of his Tesla, has been identified as a suspect in the investigation. The source also added that no charges or arrests can be pursued until further findings, such as the cause of death and toxicology report, are available.
A police source stated, “We are working to determine if her death was a murder or something else.” Reportedly, the police have yet to determine the exact time of Rivas’ death: “Springtime is the closest we’ve come to determining the time of her death. Not before that.“
