Anne Hathaway Gets Arrested: Sabrina Carpenter’s Unusal Concert Routine With Handcuffs Explained

By Daniel Hernandez 10/27/2025

Uh oh, the Short N’ Sweet police have come for Anne Hathaway! Her crime? Being the “first princess in the world“.

Pop princess Sabrina Carpenter was just visited by Genovia’s queen in New York, where she was playfully arrested by the singer. For those who don’t know, Carpenter’s concerts follow a ritual where she goes around looking for the next person to put in her fluffy handcuffs, and this time, it was Hathaway’s honor.

As the sirens went off, the camera pointed to Hathaway, who, by the way, was looking as stunning and youthful as ever in an extremely flattering black outfit.

The crowd collectively lost its mind when Carpenter asked Hathaway where she was from, and she replied, “Genovia” without missing a beat, a reference to her Princess Diaries days. Carpenter continued, “I just don’t know what to do when I see a face like that in the crowd… has anyone ever told you that you look like a princess?

What Is Sabrina Carpenter’s Concert Tradition All About?

Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour is filled with entertaining tidbits here and there, and one of them is where she “arrests” people from the crowd for simply being too hot.

The bit takes place before she sings her viral song, Juno. Carpenter and her dancers circle around the crowd before finding that one attendee who stands out from the rest. While she has arrested quite a few celebrities during the tour, some lucky fans have also gotten the privilege from time to time.

After finding her victim, the Coachella headliner has a hilarious back-and-forth with them before giving them her pink fluffy handcuffs. From her Nonsense outros and frisky Juno positions to her arrests, the Manchild singer sure knows how to keep her audience entertained.

Some Celebrities Sabrina Carpenter Has “Arrested” in the Past

Anne Hathaway is only one of the many celebrities who have been arrested by Sabrina Carpenter in the past, and she won’t be the last.

Here’s Carpenter arresting Stranger Things and Enola Holmes star, Millie Bobby Brown, calling her a “gorgeous girl” before adding, “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up. This girl is so hot. Who are you, what is your name?…You’re under arrest for being too hot.”

Carpenter also made an ode to Brown’s hit TV show, stating, “I’ve never fallen in love before but stranger things have happened.”

A fan-favorite arrest during her concert has to be of Marcello Hernandez’s Saturday Night Live character, Domingo. He was probably the only one there to leave Carpenter all flustered with his rhyme, “Came all this way, had to explain, direct from Domingo. Sabrina’s a friend, she’s like my sis. But I would hook up, though.

Clearly, no one’s safe from the Short n’ Sweet police, whether you’re Genovia’s wholesome leader or not. One thing to note is, when Carpenter calls you out for being too hot, you just smile, surrender, and let her do her thing!
